5 Book Series for Kids Who Love Fantasy and Magic

Getting kids to read in the summer can be a big challenge but it’s such an important element of preventing that summer brain drain. This summer, Scholastic and Energizer teamed up to create some great challenges and resources to encourage and inspire children to read more books and to prevent that summer brain drain. My favorite way to encourage my 9 year old bookworm daughter to read is to help her discover books that excite her. She’s wild about book series that weave in fantasy, magic, fairy tales, and the supernatural. Check out our top list of 5 Book Series for Kids Who Love Fantasy and Magic below as these books will thrill your young readers if they are fans of the magical genre.

  1. I would love to have my series included in a future list of this type and genre. I was published by Penguin 40 years ago, and spent my professional life running schools and writers’ workshops for children. I know my “Myrddin’s Heir” series is as well written as any other out there and my pitch is that I write for bright children from 10-110 years. I wish I had had the books I have now written in my classroom when I was teaching English. Now as a self-published author at the age of 73, I need the help of discriminating readers and educators interested in Children’s Literature to get my work noticed. Quality and popularity do not always go hand in hand. If you could find time to download “A Wizard of Dreams” (free on SMASHWORDS and price-matched on Amazon) and read the opening chapters, and some of the reviews I would be most grateful.
