5 Steps to a 5 Minute Mom Makeover

Check out this genius 5 Minute Mom Makeover in 5 easy simple steps. As moms, we’re often so consumed with getting our kids clothed, fed and out the door that we tend to neglect ourselves.  Thankfully though, we don’t have to look like it.

Los Angeles makeup artist and eyebrow shaper extraordinaire, Karen Scott has devised a 5 step/5 minute makeup regimen aimed at hiding dark circles, eradicating puffiness and getting your skin tone back to a healthy pink from a gruesome green. “If you know the keys to playing up your features,” Scott says, “getting gorgeous can happen in a flash.”

5 Minute Mom Makeover in 5 Quick Steps

1. Apply Vitamin E all around your eyes

A Vitamin E stick is an inexpensive and vital addition to your makeup kit.  It acts as an anti-inflammatory to erase puffiness and is better than chapstick for your lips.

2. With a wet makeup sponge, apply blemish capillary concealer

Swap the all over foundation routine and concentrate a little concealer on redspots, dark circles, blemishes and eyelids.  You don’t need to use a lot to get a brighter, even, and polished look.

3. Dust face with a tawny powder or light bronzer

A little bit of color goes a long way to making you look awake, alive and refreshed.  Be sure to put some on your eyelids and add a little extra to your cheeks for an even greater glow.

4. Apply 1-2 coats of mascara

Mascara immediately opens up and awakens your eyes.   Just a quick coat is all it takes.

5. Sweep lips with gloss

A light gloss in a nude color adds that final shine to help you exude a glowing, revived and polished look.

Karen believes that taking care of your skin can be as natural, economical, and easy as opening up your pantry.  For a fabulous exfoliator, wash your face with a tablespoon of baking soda mixed with a teaspoon of water. Give a little extra attention to the chin, nose and forehead areas.   An ideal moisturizing mask can be concocted by combining a tablespoon of honey with a teaspoon of olive oil.  Mix it for a few seconds, apply it to your face and lips with your fingertips, and leave on for approximately 3-5 minutes. Finally, grab some apple cider vinegar for the perfect toner.  Just splash some on a cotton ball and apply it evenly all over your face.  You can even finish off with a few drops of olive oil to lock in moisture.

With a pinch of creativity and a dash of improvising, busy moms really can have it all.

 Other tips from the pantry:

–       A good body exfoliator to help with cellulite is your morning coffee grounds and honey mixed together. Get those tough spots on the hips and legs.

–       To help fight an oily completion, lemon juice diluted with water will help cut excess oil.

–       Mix olive oil and raw brown sugar with your hands for a great all over body scrub. Great before tanning in the Summer.
