Very scary recall! Over 600,000 Dorel Cribs have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission due to a suffocation hazard after a 6 month old baby from Iowa tragically died.
Over 20 models of Dorel Asia cribs have been recalled with BOTH drop sides and fixed front rails. Take a look at the pictures and model numbers. Over 635,000 of these cribs have been sold by Kmart, Sears, Wal-Mart and other stores between January 2005 and December 2009 for between $120 – $700. Many of these are gorgeous cribs that I would never have suspected to be involved in this type of recall.
Even more scary, this recall seems to be a trend as Dorel had crib recalls in Spring 2009 from many of their crib brands (Jardine) made specifically for Babies R Us and Toys R Us. Kenzie’s crib is a Jardine – it was a convertible style so now she is in the bed from her original crib.
