7 Ways To Detox and Cleanse After the Holiday Fun

Now that the holidays are winding down, guest have left the house, all the left overs have been eaten and sugar plums danced in our heads. It’s time time to get back into a normal routine around here. Or somewhat!  Before I get back into the real swing of things I like to re introduce myself to some of my favorite ways to let my body “detox” and feel back to normal! Check out these 7 Ways To Detox and Cleanse after all that holiday fun.

Here are a few of my tips and tricks to detox POST holiday cheer 🙂

7 Ways To Detox and Cleanse After the Holidays
7 ways to detox

1 – Water: I can’t stress this one enough! You can see my benefits of lemon water { here } Start your mornings off with a tall glass of water with juice from half of a lemon. Lemon helps re-hydrate the system and promotes digestion, which will help the flow of waste out of your body 😉

2-  Move your body: In any way, shape, or form.  It’s the best way to rev your metabolism! I suggest getting the family together and make it a family walk. Especially with this time of year, can’t beat all the beautiful homes decorated with all the pretty lights.

3-  Espom salt bath:  One of my favorite ways to “detox” bath and lavender salts and a good book!  The bath helps facilitate the detoxification process.  The hot water draws toxins to the surface of our skin,  while the bath cools, the toxins are pulled out of our skin and into the bath water through the process of osmosis.  According to nutritional pioneer Dr. Hazel Parcells, 65% of body cleansing is achieved through the skin. Relaxing and helpful? Count me in 🙂

4. Eliminate sugar: The holidays can bring tons of sugar with it.. when trying to reset your body, it’s best to avoid sugar and artificial sweeteners. Those are some of the greatest forms of toxins we expose ourselves too. Try a natural sugar and sweetness like honey or agave.

5. Go Green: During this time of the season, I think our blood streams are filled with sugar haha! Go back to the basics and sneak greens back into your diet. You could add a handful of spinach to a morning smoothie, big green salads, or fresh pressed juice.  Green’s such as kale and broccoli also help regulate our body’s system.

6. More tea please: After all the consummation of fun drinks. It’s nice to give our stomachs a little break. Make yourself some warm  peppermint tea for as beverage that may help reduce bloat, or, green tea to rev your metabolism back up. They are both great during this fun filled season.

7. Rest & Unplug: Giving yourself that time to relax, breathe, catch up on extra sleep and unplug from social media. I feel like this is the last piece of the puzzle when trying to reboot our bodies. Try going to sleep early and reading a book rather than a TV, or scrolling through your iPAD. It will give your body and mind the rest it needs <3

Now… whose ready to give the body some TLC?!
