A Forgotten Delicacy: Einstein Bagels Giveaway

When was the last time you had a really good fresh bagel? If you’re like me it’s been practically a decade. After my visit to Einstein Bagels last week, I realize what I have been missing. My mouth is watering just thinking about my fresh bagel topped off with grilled ham, swiss, and tomato.
Years ago when I was in college and later when I was  working in corporate America stops for breakfast meetings with co-workers or a solo lunch at local bagel shops or coffee stores were a regular delicacy.
That luxury literally disappeared from my life when I became a stay at home mom. Not because we couldn’t afford it but more because that element of “me time” just magically disappeared from my life and calendar.  And the thought of a quick bagel breakfast or lunch just fell from my mind.
So dear Einstein Bagels, it’s great to reconnect and I promise to be a more faithful customer in the future. And so does my husband. Last week, on the one day a week I have a babysitter, I snuck out of the house to meet my Mike on his lunch hour. Without the kids. Just the two of us. Conversation and food is something that honestly rarely happens between us given the chaos meal time seems to entail at our home with a rambunctious 2 year old toddler and 4 year old finicky eater.  It was such a treat we even topped off our bagel lunch with scrumptious coffee cakes – Apple and Chocolate Chip and a return visit 2 days later with both kids!

  1. When I was pregnant last year I had a huge craving for Latin food, which I hadn’t had in years. I managed to cook up some dishes, thanks to the Hispanic aisle at the grocery store.

  2. Hmm forgotten delicacy…I don’t really have any forgotten as I eat what I like as often as I can…I have restaurants that are no longer here that I rarely get a chance to enjoy unless we happen to travel somewhere that has them like Ponderosa and Cracker Barrel. *sigh* I do miss them!

  3. I never had the pocket change to go into a candy store, but about a month ago I came across $5(It happened to be in the pocket of an old coat). Anyhow, I took my girls to a candy store to look at all the amazing treats. Boy did they have fun. Unfortunately they had to much fun and started touching stuff…needless to say I spent more than $5 on candy. It was hard to decide on just one thing but I did get some sour candys that reminded me of when I was in elementary. We had a fun time.

  4. The last forgotten delicacy I ate at was Beaujo’s Pizza in Colorado. I grew up in Colorado and now live in California and they only have Beaujo’s PIzza in Colorado. I miss it so much! We ate there when we went to Colorado for Christmas. The best part is eating the pizza crust with honey!!

  5. Graeter’s Ice Cream! It’s not available here in Alabama, but is at home in Kentucky. When we went back home for Christmas, I got the rare opportunity to go out and run errands by myself. I took full advantage of it, and went to Grater’s by myself. It was blissful!

  6. Since we’ve had two children my husband and I rarely get out for a date night. On Valentine’s Day we put the girls to bed early and cooked a delicious three course dinner together. Rather than attempting to make a mediocre dessert, I picked up some dark chocolate truffles and a good bottle of champagne; those were some delicacies!!

  7. It’s been such a long time since I’ve enjoyed a delicacy…I almost cannot think of one. My parents did treat me to a delicious lunch a couple of years ago on my birthday. The restaurant makes specialty breads and desserts in addition to awesome meals. So, I completely enjoyed the sweet & savory bread sampler plate that is brought to the table to share. And, the time with my parents was priceless!

P.S. And, I LOVE Einstein’s Bagels, but rarely get to enjoy them in recent years!!!

  8. Last year, for my b-day, I bought myself some Ben & Jerry’s NY Super Fudge Chunk ice cream just for me! (and I made sure to eat it during naptime/after bedtime so I didn’t have to share)

  9. i actually had a dr. appt a few weeks ago and got done fairly quickly so i went to Einstein Bagels – by myself! i sat on the patio and wrote thank you cards and enjoyed a bagel – by myself! i can’t wait for a repeat. thanks for a great giveaway!

  10. It was just the other day actually 😉

I stopped at my accountants to drop of a paper we signed. THey had a little candy dish out of werther’s originals. I know it does not sound like much but I have not had one in a long time and it reminds me of my childhood. My grandpa always had them and woudl give them to me and my sister. At first I am pretty sure I did not even like it but it was candy so I took it….soon though I grew to LOVE them 🙂

it was a fun trip down memory lane thanks to my accountant.

  11. A real treat for me are the Cadbury Creme Eggs! Each Easter I gobble up several of them, only to forget about them until the next year.

Thanks for the chance to win.
