A fresh look from Better Homes and Gardens & $50 Visa Giveaway

I’m thrilled to announce that Better Homes and Gardens is sponsoring a redecorating project in my home to celebrate the brand new line of products they’ve recently launched at Walmart.

As a busy Mom with two children, three and under, my house generally looks like chaos despite my continuous efforts to tidy up our living area. Redecorating is definitely not top of mind amidst the constant mess of cheerios, goldfish, and endless toys that aim to take over my home on a daily basis.

Better Homes & Gardens’ invitation surprised me and forced me to take a much needed look at the neglected areas of my home. I admit for the last four years I’ve been consumed with the exhausting process of pregnancy, tending to babies, entertaining toddlers, and just living in the moment of Motherhood.

For this project, I’ve decided to create a fresh look in my kitchen, the heart of my home and used Better Homes & Gardens magazine and website for my inspiration. I’ve spent hours after tucking the kiddos into bed surfing their website for kitchen and bathroom decor. The website is organized so that you can drill down to specific rooms of the home and see over thirty styles and designs. BHG even offers ideas on where to buy the bits and pieces to add that finishing touch. Honestly, BHG.com makes inspiration simple and easy – even for busy and exhausted Moms.
After taking a hard look at my kitchen, I realize I have truly neglected this area more than anywhere else in my home. And it’s where we spend 80 percent of our time! My kitchen table is literally a hand-me-down from my childhood. My Mom bought the butcher block table when I was three. I’m now thirty-three, so that makes this piece some thirty years old! My Mom gave it to me when I graduated college as her excuse to upgrade to a new table. At the time, I was thrilled with the free furniture. Unfortunately, I’ve never taken the time to find a table of my own. Same story with the fruit filled lamp which shines down on us at every meal, which my Mom bought when I was eight years old. It’s a gorgeous lamp but as a twenty-five year old piece, it’s definitely outdated. A true instance of if the shoe fits, why change it? Well, it is time for a change!

I saw this picture in the Better Homes & Gardens magazine for their new line showcasing their Farmhouse Table, dishes, and placemats. I decided I’d like to create a similar look in my home. I’ll be following up with pictures of my new kitchen soon!
