A Video Tour of Castaway Cay

Take a peek at the gorgeous beach and crystal clear blue waters on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. This place is glorious and a cruise stop favorite as it is simple to disembark the ship and immediately enjoy the island beaches and activities without needing to board an additional transportation which is often the case in other ports.  I can’t stress enough how easy it is to step off the boat and immediately enjoy the island. All food for lunch, along with snacks of ice cream and fresh fruit are for free and easily accessible from whichever beach you happen to be enjoying once you settle in at Castaway Cay.

Upon getting off the boat we were greeted by characters too which my 5 yr old adored!

We love Castaway Cay and can’t rave enough about it. Enjoy our photos and more details on the island adventure opportunities below.

Kenzie and Mickey Mouse – our fave Disney character!

Enjoying time with Pluto and getting lots of autographs.

Our little sand diggers couldn’t get enough of the beach, water, and sand!

Meeting Lilo for the 1st time along the streets of Castaway Cay.

We definitely appreciated the easy access and availability of free jogging strollers and wagons.  A huge perk to tote the kids around the island in the wagon. They loved it. And for those with younger children, a jog stroller is the perfect way to get your tykes to sleep on the beach and keep them out of the sun.

We also loved that there were umbrellas everywhere set up and of course free of charge to use. The beach was on the empty side for our visit given this was a media cruise, but I do imagine it will be quite crowded on a regular voyage so I recommend getting off the boat early to secure the right Palm Tree and umbrella to give you the shade you might need to enjoy the day if you are the sunburning type like me and my 3 yr old son.

You can also rent these Private Cabanas for the entire day as well. 20 are available on the island so I also advise reserving them in advance. Aren’t they gorgeous? Talk about getting comfortable in the Caribbean!

You can enjoy bike riding or running too on the trails and streets on Castaway Cay. This is a super way to really explore the island with your family or to get in a great workout.

Sports equipment for more adventurous water activities plus snorkeling gear and rafts are also available for renting.  5 year old Kenzie and I signed up for the Stingray Adventure on Castaway Cay. It was fantastic and very exciting for Mackenzie to touch, feed, and then swim with Stingrays. She loved it! ($35 for adults and $29.99 for kids – the activity is about 1 hour with a 30 minute demonstration and then 30 mins. of free time to swim with the stingrays and fish.)

As for the adult only activities – there is an adult only beach called Serenity Bay. It is stunning. It even has cabanas available where you can get Spa Services like massages, facials and more all while enjoying the fresh air and looking out at the ocean.

And if you want to enjoy the adult beach and aren’t sure what to do with your kids…. well no worries. Disney has a secure child care area called Scuttle’s Cove where the kids can play in the sand, splash in sprinklers, do water relay races, participate in Sand Building contests, and even did for Whale Bones. Too cool. And again, all these child care services are absolutely free! (Age 3 required for Scuttles Cove drop off)

What a day! We’ll be remembering this adventure for a long time. Especially since we came home to frigid weather and snow in Philadelphia!

Disclosure: Special thanks to Disney for inviting my family & I on the Disney Dream Christening voyage. All thoughts and opinions are my won.
