P&G’s “Have You Tried This Yet?” Media event

Last week I spent a few days in Miami to attend P&G’s “Have you Tried This Yet?” media event. In celebration of their new brand saver coupon guide coming out – with over $100 of coupon’s in the Sunday paper, they hosted a media event to show off over a dozen new innovative products all introduced in the last 6-18 months.

And besides getting to go lab crazy testing out new products to see just how they worked, I also got to spend time with some of my closest blogging friends – Audrey McClelland (also my co-author!), Vera Sweeney, Danielle Smith and also Ashley Nuzzo – couponing star who I had never met before but became a wonderful kindred spirit.

Here’s the girls and I hitting the beach before we took to the Media event. What a perfect day with girlfriends. Miami is stunning – I feel like it’s a combination of New York City & European culture but set on the beach.

And here we are at the Media event in Miami – yes we posed for this silly picture as we tweeted away but no joke half the time we were together we were all non stop on our smartphones or ipads. In any other company this would be considered the most RUDE behavior but with each other, since all of our careers really do rely on our social media updates, this works and we all get it each. Sometimes it is just AMAZING to be amongst others who are just like us in every way – particularly when it comes to our “digital addiction”.

Ashley & I spent the evening together sampling and testing everything. Product experts from the brand and industry experts like Dentists, Doctors, and Scientists were on hand to answer questions and explain just how the P&G products innovate for top performance.

P&G’s Have You Tried This Yet? Brands that we tested and experimented with included:

Crest Complete with Scope dual Blast
Scope Dual Blast mouthwash
Vicks Nature Fusion
Charmin Freshmates Cleaner (aka toilet paper wipes!)
Dawn Power Clean
Downy UnStopables
Gillete Fusion ProGlide
Olay Regenerist
Olay Professional ProX Acne Protocol
Cover Girl Mascara, Eyeshadows, and Lip products
Swiffer 360 Duster Extenders
Duracell Ultra Power

Here’s my friend Vera getting beautiful as we received makeovers from Olay & Cover Girl.
Seriously our jobs are so much fun. I can’t believe this kind of stuff is part of my work. You better believe we all love our jobs as blogger correspondants!

As a fan of Dawn’s Power Foam, I was especially impressed with Dawn Power Clean, a new product from Dawn.

This liquid dish wash rocks with overnight soaking power in 5 minutes. We all put it to the test to see how the unique enzymes in Dawn enable it to beat out the competitors with it’s ability to cut the starch & grease to help us Mamas clean our dishes as fast and easy as possible.

Here’s Dawn Power Clean a few minutes in……. on the left and already beating out the competitor.

And here’s Dawn Power Clean again a few minutes later. I knew there was a reason I loved Dawn!

We also put Charmin to the test. Here’s my video showing Charmin’s strength. Impressive as this TP doesn’t break when put to the test with coins or lots of wetness as shown below. I felt like a scientist doing these tests – it all seems so practical but by testing the products I really learned just how much the innovation of P&G helps consumers like me every day at home. Awesome.

Olay. What more can I say as the name just speaks to me since I’ve been obsessed with Olay for years. Love their anti wrinkle Regenerist line and all of their moisturizers too.

Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer

I’m obsessed with this Exergen Temporal Artery thermometer! I first got one for my daughter when she was about 6 months old and I’ve now begun to use it on Kyle who is almost 8 months. I’m a worry wart kidn of Mom who is a bit of a hypochrondriac in the sense I fear my little ones getting sick – as do many Parents. So I’m always wanting to take Kyle’s temperature since he seems to run a fever virtually every other day with all of this teething. And when the kids are really sick and a bit older – like Kenzie today at age 2 – this is a far better option than the rectal. And she just hit 105.2 so I’m needing to monitor her regularly until these antibiotics hopefully kick in for what looks like a possible ear infection. Ahh the joys of parenting! This device does make life a ton easier and I highly recommend it to any new parent to keep in their medical cabinet. Classy Mommy Approved. For more information, click here. Price: $38

Pretty Pushers Maternity Delivery Gowns

Who wouldn’t want to modernize their labor day with a stylish and trendy delivery gown instead of wearing another grimy gown that has been worn by hundreds before you? I seriously wish one of these trendy gowns had been gifted to me for review before the birth of my 2nd child. The trend is growing now for colorful, feminine, and personal delivery gowns – and if I ever dare tackle round 3 in the labor room I promise I will be dressed up for the occasion next time. Pretty Pushers were developed a group of NYC moms who believe in fun, fashion, and the right to hold onto it even on the delivery table. Included in the fantastic pregnant-lady-shaped package is a soft cotton gown with access to all the right areas (low-cut back for the epidural and a tie-closure front for monitors), matching headband, and 3 fun and necessary little cosmetic items. Johnson’s Head to Toe Foaming Wash

Did you know that Johnson’s No More Tears formula is celebrating their 50th anniversary? Getting soap in your eyes is not fun – and with a toddler keeping soap out of their eyes is almost impossible. To save me from the "burn", I know my Mom relied on Johnson’s No More Tears formula when I was a tot, and I can’t imagine my kids bathtime without Johnson’s No More Tears. Both Mom Central and Johnson’s asked me to review their new line of No More Tears Head to Toe Foaming Wash. I’m crazy for it as it pumps and foams just like you’d imagine and it’s now paired with the No More Tears formula we all trust. My 3 year old uses it in the bath and shower to literally wash herself from head to toe – as we use it as shampoo too. So I don’t have to worry about her getting soap in her eyes as she scrubs down and washes her own hair like a big girl. California Baby Calming Shampoo & Body Wash

Do you have a baby with sensitive skin? California Baby might be your answer as it has worked wonders for us. My son Kyle reacts to many bath products as he has eczema – but I’ve been using California Baby Shampoo and Body Wash for Kyle ever since he was about 3 months old. Super soothing with a sweet smell we love and it definitely helps eliminate the "crunchy" skin. California Baby contains organic and sustainably grown ingredients and is tear free so we can use it to wash his body and hair. It’s free of Sodium lauryl sulfate, DEA, and numbing agents. Truly this wash helped Kyle’s cradle cap and eczema and we’re still using it for all his baths at 15 months. Classy Mommy Approved! For more information, click here. Price: $10

Swine Flu Natural Remedy Sambucus Original Black Elderberry Syrup

With non stop media talk about the swine flu and the continual reminders to not panic, I profess I’m on alert. Full disclosure is I’m no medical expert but saw talk on the internet from Doctors and Parents about Elderberry syrup being a natural remedy for flu symptoms and an immunity booster along with being safe for children. Studies have shown it to reduce the number of days you are ill as well. I’m a bit of a hypochondriac and have ended up with pneumonia after having the regular flu so I figured it couldn’t hurt to order some just in case……I placed my order for this Nature’s Way product from Amazon yesterday so we’ll see how it tastes and what my preschooler thinks of it. Supposedly there are safe doses for children and I’ve heard parents put it on top of pancakes or in a fruit smoothie for their children or themselves on a daily basis anyhow regardless of the pending swine flu drama. I like to be prepared and in this case, other than hand washing and using hand sanitizers as much as possible, I thought I’d like to add a natural remedy to my arsenal as well. We’ll see how it goes! Boogie Wipes

Boogie Wipes, created to solve the problem of wiping the crusty & runny noses of toddlers and preschoolers, are truly an innovative product invented by two Moms. Last week I had the privilege to interview Boogie Wipes Founders, Mindee and Julie to learn more about their biz. Truly, these one of a kind saline wipes are designed to encourage kids to deal with the nose wipe instead of running in the other direction. Moms love them and sales of these buggers have taken off as Moms struggle with boogies on a daily basis. I wish I had tried these out a year ago as ever since Kyle got RSV when he was 6 weeks old I’ve been battling the boogies. After our phone conversation, the folks at Boogie Wipes sent me out a bunch of products to try. They’ve got all different size packages – some for at home and smaller ones for on the go. And I really love the grape scented boogie wipes. I noticed how much easier a wet saline "boogie wipe" made it for me to swipe my toddler’s crusty nose or big boogies! Very helpful and I couldn’t help thinking I wish I had invented these wipes! I’m impressed with Mindee & Julie’s entrepreneurial success and genius marketing ideas which have helped them score distribution in major retailers like Walmart and I can’t wait to see what these girls will do next! Classy Mommy Approved. For more information, click here. Price: $3
