Classy Mommy: It is wonderful to hear all you are doing for the environment. What advice do you have for Moms hoping to live a cleaner and greener lifestyle?
Check out the Green Nest website. Ryan & I used this and found it a very helpful resource as we strive to create a healthy and safe home for our family. After having Max, the environment has become an even bigger concern for us, as we want to insure we have a healthy world for Max to grow up in.
Classy Mommy: What charities and organizations are important to you?
Ryan and I have both been involved with this wonderful local charity called First Descents, a camp which gives young adult cancer patients a place to go kayaking and get outdoors together in Colorado.
Since Ryan is a tri-athlete, we’ve also been involved with the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which helps people with physical disabilities, like amputees; pursue an active lifestyle through physical fitness and competitive athletics.
We know the director at Future of Life. This charity is very important to us as preserving the environment is a big priority in our lives. Basically, Future of Life helps ensure there is a future of life on earth for all species. They do this by establishing programs that educate and encourage people to take action.
Classy Mommy: Are there any other charities you hope to work with in the future?
The March of Dimes. Max was a premature baby and a few of my closest friends have children who were either premature, or have conditions such as Down Syndrome. I also worked as a Pediatric Physical therapist for 4 years and know how difficult it can be to deal with developmental delays. The March of Dimes really makes a difference and because of that, I am trying to get more involved.
Classy Mommy: I love your new line of Trista Baby eco-conscious diaper bags. What is your role with the company? When eBags approached me about creating my own line, I knew this was the perfect fit as it would allow me to be a full time stay at home Mom for Max. It also allows me to use my creativity to design unique patterns, styles, and accessories.
Classy Mommy: Any plans to introduce more eco-friendly baby products in the Trista Baby line? We’ll be sticking with diaper bags for now, but we hope to expand the line with a variety of bags – everything from new diaper bag silhouettes, handbags, luggage, and children’s accessories.
Classy Mommy: I was thrilled to review your Trista Baby bag and add it to our Classy Mommy Product Finder. Do you have any finds for me?
I’ve got a few picks you totally need to add! http://www.cloudsandstars.com/ makes a quick zip sheet that changed my life. I could not live without it! Basically it is a sheet where you can just zip off the top of the sheet to change it without worrying about removing your bumper or lifting out the entire crib mattress. I’m also a huge fan of How Fast They Grow, a fabulous digital scrap booking web service that helps Moms easily create beautiful scrapbook pages. Many of my favorite products in Max’s nursery came from NewArrivalsInc. which specializes in custom bedding, accessories, and designer nurseries. I also rave about my rocker from Angel Song. They make custom baby chairs that are down-filled and comfy!
Classy Mommy: I know Max is still really young – but how do you hope to instill core values about caring for others and the environment in Max and his future siblings? Children are such sponges. They learn anything and everything from their parents and the people who surround them. My hope is that Ryan and I can be the kind of people that Max will want to be like. The best way to ensure that he is a caring, kind, considerate person is to show him by example, and we intend to do that to the best of our ability.
