Found an interesting article by David Kirby on The Huffington Post titled, “Obama Climbs on the Vaccine Research Wagon.” As the BPA fanfare has reached an all time high, I’m also keeping my eyes on the vaccine debates as many concerned parents wonder what’s next??? According to Kirby, all 3 potential Presidential candidates (ie McCain, Hilary and Obama) all have made recent comments indicating their belief more research on vaccine safety and the role it plays in childhood illnesses needs to be done.
Looks like Kirby attended a recent top-level meeting in Washington where vaccine safety officials discussed the potential issues with vaccines (ie autism links, crowded schedule, etc. )
Kirby’s article said the below questions/topics were added to the CDC’s recommended Federal Research Agenda for vaccine safety.
Can vaccines cause neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism?
Can vaccines in children with mitochondrial dysfunction cause significant “neurological deterioration?”
Can the combination live-virus measles, mumps and rubella vaccine cause seizures and long term damage in children?
Can vaccines cause autoimmune disease?
Can thimerosal cause tics or Tourette syndrome?
Can attenuated viruses in vaccines cause asthma in children?
Just wish all this research was done already so I’d know just what to think about vaccinating my little boy. Right now I’m taking the alternative vaccine schedule from Dr. Sears as a precautionary approach.
