Mattel Games Family Fun & Giveaway

As the days grow shorter, the weather cools, and the kids start going stir crazy, we all start looking for activities to keep parents sane and the kids entertained. Mattel Games just launched a new line of fun games geared towards pre-schoolers and young children that are exciting for the entire family.

We had the pleasure of trying out 4 new great games that Mattel was generous enough to send us as I help them promote the launch of these new games. I’m also giving away a prize package of all 4 games valued at $96 to one lucky Classy Mommy reader. Enter below to win.

Whac-a-Mole Ages 4+ $22.00
This take on the classic arcade and amusement game will appeal to people of all ages – and they’ll probably get into a frenzied sweat trying to beat down the Moles who keep lighting up during about 45 seconds of game play. I like how this game can be played with 1 player only and has both an easy and more competitive setting. From the “Mom” perspective, Whac-a-Mole was my personal favorite game to play as I found it such addictive fun. And I’m the competitive type so I really enjoyed trying to beat my own score again and again. Mackenzie liked the fast paced action of this game and I was impressed with her ability to perfectly play Whac-a-Mole as she held her little mallet to beat down the Moleys.

Uno Moo! Ages 3+ $19.99

Everybody loves Uno and this game is a spin off of the classic designed with young kids in mind. Playing cards are replaced by adorable animal figurines in Uno Moo that Mattel research shows are far easier for tiny little hands to grip and hold. The object of the game is to get all your animal figures into the Red Barn first. Uno Moo helps kids practice matching colors and animals during game play. I love the design of using figures instead of cards for Uno Moo since a stack of cards can be boring for young kids – not to mention holding a hand of cards is a physically impossible task for a 3 or 4 year old. If you have you ever tried to play Go Fish with a 3 year old you know what I’m talking about! Uno Moo has become a quick favorite in our household as my preschooler is really getting into games. Mackenzie requests we play it again and again. Even little Kyle at 21 months, who is under age for real game play, is thrilled with the animal figures and loves putting them in and out of the barn as he watches us play. He does his best to help us get the animals into the Barn and when we make a match he is quick to say “Bye Bye Moo!” or “Bye Bye Baa Baa” as we put a cow or sheep into the barn. He even carries the little barn full of figures around the house!
Saucer Scramble Ages 5+ $23.99

Board games are certainly fun, but sometimes the little ones need to get moving! For little bundles of energy like our little Kyle, Saucer Scramble is right up their alley.

Little “alien” saucer discs, about the size of a silver dollar, get launched into the air where they float for a few seconds. Each player gets a scooper to try to catch them. There are few different ways to play the game, but for Kyle and Kenzie, we had plenty of fun just trying to catch them. Somehow, the game for us morphed into trying to catching the saucers, which then became our make-believe food that we had to stash away for the winter. Not exactly the rules that Mattel had in mind, but my kids loved it.

Electronic Toss Across Ages 5+ $29.99
Electronic Toss Across will get you moving, throwing and jumping as this spin off of Tic-Tac-Toe can be played 8 different ways. The electronic game board can be used on the floor or hung on the wall. It lights up and makes sounds during game play and you can program it for single player or multi-player games. Players toss bean bags to hit their “electronic” pod target for games like Darts, Tic-Tac-Toe, aim for the 4 corners, and more. My kids were a little young to aim perfectly for this game according to the rules compared to their ability to play the above games, but tossing, throwing, and shaking bean bags is generally always exciting and appealing for the little tykes so they still enjoyed their own version of fun.
