Book the Caring for Giants Elephant Tour Experience at Animal Kingdom #DisneySMMC

Hooray! Disney is now offering a new family-friendly adventure at Animal Kingdom called Caring for Giants, focused on their Elephants, and priced at only $30. Caring for Giants will open on March 12th for guests. I had the chance to take a sneak peek advance tour of the brand new Caring for Giants backstage tour coming this March to Animal Kingdom. This backstage tour is AMAZING and gives guests a chance to have an up-close viewing experience starring the majestic African elephants of Disney’s Animal Kingdom park, chat with caretakers of the elephants, hear from cultural representatives, and learn more about Disney’s conservation efforts to protect the beautiful Elephant species.

Caring for Giants Elephant Tour Experience at Animal Kingdom

I highly recommend the Caring for Giants tour for families who are wanting a little extra magic. Caring for Giants is very affordable, interesting and will appeal to the entire family – from kids to grandparents. Plus anytime you can go backstage at Disney and talk to the people caring for these magnificent animals is priceless!

Caring for Giants Elephant Tour Experience at Animal Kingdom

We were told that tours will cost about $30 and will be offered 10 times per day. I love that the price is only $30 as this will make it very affordable for guests to participate in a special “experience”. I find the experiences Disney offers are always so worth it and are packed with all kinds of value and magic.

What happens during the Caring for Giants Tour

Your tour is about 60 minutes long. You’ll spend about 35 minutes observing the elephant herds from a unique new viewing area backstage that looks out upon the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna. You’ll chat here with the animal caretakers and the cultural representative. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to spot adorable baby Stella, the new elephant baby recently born at Animal Kingdom. We saw her the entire time we were there and she was SOOOO cute! Playful with her siblings and Mother and just all around adorable. The other part of your time on the tour will be in transport out to the Savannah and you’ll enjoy that you’ll be driving “BACKSTAGE” to get there and will hear lots of interesting facts about Animal Kingdom and the elephants from your driver on the way.

We weren’t allowed to snap our own photos since the tour hadn’t officially launched when we took it, so you’ll notice I only used an official photo here. However, no worries because when the tour opens in March, guests will be allowed to take their own photos when they are viewing the elephants.

Disney’s Elephant Conservation Efforts

I was wowed to learn about Disney’s real world efforts to help reverse the decline of African elephants in the wild. The Disney Conservation Fund has provided more than $2.4 million to support elephants, including $1.8 million to support African elephants.

During your tour, the cultural representatives and Elephant caretaker will share details on the conservation efforts including some really special projects that have progressed thanks to the research  Disney has learned by watching elephants at Animal Kingdom and in the wild. The Disney Conservation Fund has worked hard on a fascinating Elephants and Bees project that is making a real difference to protect elephants in the African wild today.
