Coconut Water

O.N.E. Coconut Water is all the craze these days. I’ve been hearing about it in magazines, on the news, and even from my Dad so I was very excited when I ended up getting some free samples to test out for ourselves. All the celebs are using Coconut Water and it seems that Moms are now finding benefits to the perks of this all natural beverage too. Yes, 100% all natural. You know, like the water from a coconut. No artificial junk like we find in our sports juices or sports drinks. (Yes, us adults drink a lot of Gatorade in our house!) Coconut Water has great electrolytes and is high in potassium to help balance those electrolytes – which is why it is so popular with athletes and now for Mommies nursing sick kiddos. Really, what child ever drinks Pedialyte during those bouts of stomach flu? It is kind of a joke as I buy it every year, beg and plead my kids to drink it when they are sick and I end up throwing it all out as no one touches more then a mere sip of it. Truth be told the coconut water is a bit of an acquired taste. It did not go over like chocolate with my kids, but I loved the mango flavor and my 4 year old daughter’s also liked that one best of all. It is something I am certain she would drink someday in the future compared to her not drinking Pedialyte – ever. The other fun thing we did was make homemade mini popsicles out of the Pineapple flavored coconut water and both kids devoured them – and I figure it is far healthier than a junky flavor ice popsicle but an exciting treat all the same.
