Dining at the Three Broomsticks at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Eating at the Three Broomsticks is a MUST DO attraction at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Truly it can’t be missed. Yes it is going to look super crowded as does every alley and shop in the Hogsmeade. But do not be deterred as you will have the most delightful meal and find yourself even more immersed in all that is Potter. The movie “set”version of the Three Broomsticks was actually developed and based on this restaurant here at Universal! Very cool. (Thee Three Broomsticks is the restaurant where Dumbledore’s Army meets.)

And you can order ButterBeer here with your meal – so this is the ideal way to avoid those super long lines outside at the ButterBeer cart! (Which can run up to 30-45 minutes at peak times!)

You won’t find any traditional brand name soft drinks here either per J.K. Rowling’s request. Only ButterBeer, Pumpkin Fizz, Water, and the like.

The  food was surprisingly delicious and Mike and I swear we ate the world’s BEST “Fish & Chips” here. And we adored the ButterBeer too. Devoured it all! You can order it frozen as well which I highly recommend. I actually preferred it the longer I drank it as I think it became slightly less sweet as the frozen-ness of it all melted down a bit. Super yummy. I want to go back just for the butterbeer!

The Fish sticks were crazy delicious and we devoured them. Kenzie was gaga for the corn on the cob complete with husk.

Here’s the scoop on ordering food and getting a table at The Three Broomsticks:

It really is a cinch.

I beg you not to worry about the crowds at all as somehow the Three Broomsticks magically has the most organized chaos as I’ve ever seen at a crowded restaurant. The good news is there is no fighting for a table or seats. Although this is a “quick service” restaurant, the staff directs you to a table after you pick up your food. This is glorious and removes much of the stress often found when dealing with a crowded popular theme park restaurant.

The ambience is simply spectacular. Giant Antlers hanging on the mantles & ceilings. Cauldrons hanging out in the fireplace. And even some special effects in the restaurant where you might just spot some shadows of flying broomsticks.

Look at the natural light in this photo as it shines in through the rafters. Gorgeous!

I was a bit nervous when I saw how crowded it looked but our VIP guide explained that we’d have a great time and to just get in the queue as they move people along. Basically you wait in line to order, and after ordering, you wait to pick up your food, and are then shuffled with your food to a great table in this vast restaurant that is so very Potter.

The Menu at Three Broomsticks Restaurant at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter:

Here’s a quick version of the menu that they showed us outside the restaurant before we walked in. You can also order family style aka “Great Feasts” and they do offer kids choices like mac n cheese, chicken fingers, or  fish & chips.

Everyone in my family was super happy with our meal and it felt fabulous to get off our feet for a good 45 minutes to eat, relax, and recharge!

Disclosure: Thanks to Universal Orlando for providing my family and I complimentary park passes and a VIP guided tour through their theme parks. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

  1. OMG, it sounds AWESOME!!! But.. there’s a factual error in there, the DA met in the Hog’s Head Pub, not the Three Broomsticks, which was the cause of them getting discovered. The Threebroomsticks was first shown in the third movie when the trio enter and Harry eavesdrops on McGongall, Fudge and Rosmerta, and in the sixth when they meet for Butterbeer. Sorry… I’m like, a die-hard Potterhead and… it’s a compulsion. Sorry again. 🙁
