5 Tip Entertainment Checklist for Summer Travel with Kids #DisneyMoviesAnywhere

This blog post is part of a paid SocialMoms and Disney Movies Anywhere blogging program. As always, all thought and opinions are my own.

Summertime means all kinds of road trips with the kids. From daily staycation destinations to regional amusement parks, weekend trips to the beach, getaways to visit relatives or airplane travel for destination vacations, traveling with kids DEFINITELY requires entertainment and a little advanced planning. Even the most seasoned travel kids will repeatedly ask the classic, “ARE WE THERE YET?” mantra!

Here’s the scoop on our 5 point entertainment checklist for the kids to insure Kenzie and Kyle are HAPPY travelers.

Entertainment Checklist for Happy Travel Kids

1. Backpacks for the kids stuffed complete with all their personal essentials. We let the kids control their own bags. It’s fun for the kids – and gives them a sense of ownership for their entertainment. I’ll guide the packing and veto items when they go crazy packing every possible toy, but overall, this gives the kids the chance to bring whatever little toys excite them vs. random stuff I might pick out.

2. Snacks, snacks, and more snacks. I put them in the kids backpacks, so they can sort of “be in charge” of pacing through their goodies with a little guidance from Mama.

3. Coloring and Activity Books to keep the kids occupied and give them more activity options for the journey.

4. Easy reading books or picture books for the little ones. For your avid readers, be sure they pack a good read. My daughter, age 8, always brings whatever novel she’s currently engrossed in and this is a fabulous way to pass the time.

5. Movies! The kids love to share headphones and watch a flick on the iPad together. Thanks to the new Disney Movies Anywhere App, my kids are set with all their fave flicks. We love Disney Movies Anywhere for our iPad. If you haven’t yet dived into the Disney Movies Anywhere App, here’s the quick skinny on how it works and why you TOTALLY want it for your next adventures with the kids. Simply download the app, sign up for Disney Movies Anywhere and link it to your iTunes account. Now, you can access streaming versions of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies when online or download them to your iOS device for offline viewing – which is genius for family travel of course!

To get started, Download the Disney Movies Anywhere app, register, and connect your iTunes account to receive a free copy of Pixar’s The Incredibles.

As you can tell my kids enjoy the journey!

We love to travel with the kids – from 2 hour road trips to the beach to flying cross country or to the Caribbean to explore a new destination. Honestly, the traveling is half the fun for my kids. They love the adventure!
