Hooray! The Peanuts Movie hits theaters this Friday November 6th.Don’t you love when beloved characters or toys that made up the fabric of our childhood make a comeback? I find it thrilling to see my children captivated and enraptured with characters, stories, or toys that were a part of my experience growing up as a kid.
We’ve got plans to see it as a family Saturday night and I can not wait to introduce the gang to my Kenzie and Kyle. As a child, the Peanuts holiday specilas were the MAIN holiday shows and cartoons in general I remember watching when I was a little girl. I can vividly remember – like it was yesterday – the absolute joy and anticipation I felt when it was time for a Peanuts holiday special to air on TV. Before the era of DVR’s and DVD’s or even VCR’s, the only way to watch a show was to see it live. I can remember the glee I felt when I was allowed to stay up late past my bedtime to catch The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown or the Peanuts Thanksgiving or Christmas TV specials. Truly, I find it thrilling to now be able to share the Peanuts gang with my own children on the big screen. (And with gorgeous new modern animation too!)
The friendship between Snoopy and Charlie Brown is always sweet, fun, and a relationship both can always rely upon. I love the loyalty between these two and it’s a great role model for friendships too. Sometimes being there – and not saying anything is what matters most of all.
Looks like this movie will have all kinds of fabulous plot lines for families too – friendship, love, and the idea to DREAM BIG. Both Snoopy and Charlie Brown have big dreams and quests of their own in the movie and I can’t wait to see what these new adventures are all about.
Dreaming BIG and imagining all the possibilities are values we always try to instill in our children. I love that both Kenzie and Kyle believe they CAN DO IT and they set goals for themselves – whether it be to learn to play the clarinet in band or to qualify for swim championships to to break a swim team record. Whatever the dream, I love that they are DREAMING BIG!
