Fashion Friday: Run Disney Princess Style

Next week I’ll be gearing up to run the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon on Sunday the 26th and my entire family is going to run the Royal Family 5K. I hear that everyone literally gets all dressed up like Princess to run this race – from skirts to tiaras to full fledged Disney princess costumes.

Here’s some ideas with Disney’s official 2012 Princess Half Marathon merchandise along with some “tutu” skirt options too.

Disney Princess Half Marathon

Lots of the larger sizes in little girl stuff is sold out now on Disney.com, so I may actually be wearing a sparkly skirt of Kenzie’s that fits. Kenzie helped me find a skirt of hers to wear- thank god for elastic waists so I can get it over my hips! – along with a cute Tinkerbell ponytail holder.

I can hardly wait for the magic of running a race full of Disney entertainment and now my 6 year old is SUPER EXCITED to run her very own 5K with me the day before and earn her own glorious finisher medal.

Time for Disney Magic and turning my running self into a “Princess runner!”

Fashion Friday: What to Wear When Interviewing a Movie Star

I used to hem and haw over this question, but I’ve learned it doesn’t really matter – so now stress far less over it . Truth be told, relatively speaking NOBODY is going to be paying any attention to you – as the spotlight is on whomever you might be interviewing.

Bloggers keep getting more and more cool opps to cover press events and/or volunteer with celebrities so here’s what I think works.

Since a girl likes to look good, here’s a few simple rules:

1. Most importantly, wear something you feel confident and comfortable in.

2. Remember you’ll likely want to get your photo taken too – so think of wearing an outfit that will photograph nicely – bright colors & solids are a great bet.

3. Dressed up jeans work great and are a very safe option. They are the perfect mix of classy and casual when paired with tall boots or heels. This way – whether the star is dressed up fancy or super casual you will blend in and feel in your comfort zone.

4. Up the business factor on your jeans outfit by opting for a blazer and/or statement necklace.

And bright colors always work great in photos – here’s a favorite shot of when I met Jennifer Garner. They specifically told us to be casual since our day with Jen included picking veggies on a farm to a cooking demo – in 100 degree weather too!

So I wore black shorts & a hot pink tank. The hot pink always works great on photos too.

Here’s what I’m wearing today for my interviews with Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, and the rest of the cast from the Big Miracle Movie today.

Dark denim jeans, tall boots, a ruffled top under a blazer (Top/Jacket – Ann Taylor Loft, Jeans are from Express)

Fashion Friday: The Classic Christmas Pajama Photo

Merry Christmas Eve Eve! Nothing says Christmas like styling your kids in holiday pajamas!

And read on and link up for a chance to win a fabulous prize too!

The classic Christmas PJ photo is a tradition we started with our friends years ago. Take a peek at the kids today, last year, and five years ago too! My girlfriends and I all typically buy our holiday PJ’s from Gymboree, Gap Kids/BabyGap or Crazy 8.

Christmas Eve Eve 2011

December 23rd is our annual party with my 2 best friends and their families. We’ve been friends since the 7 th grade!  Going on some 24 years now!

Christmas Eve Eve  2010

Christmas Eve Eve in 2007. Kyle was only 3 weeks old in this picture below.  And Kenzie was 2 yrs and 2 months.

Here’s last year’s holiday Gingerbread PJ’s from Gymboree circa 2010.

This year we had a “classic” Reindeer PJ for the kids from Gymboree and our elf on the shelf, Charlie, also delivered some hip cool reindeer PJ’s from Crazy 8 to the kids as well – think Reindeer wearing sunglasses for the boys – very cool!

These pictures are too cute from Kyle’s early days with his sister too – sporting more holiday festive wear from kids – circa 2007! My how the years fly by!

Kenzie styling in her Hanes Hair Towel

Kenzie was SOOO excited to test out this comfort stretch hair towel from Hanes on her wet head after swim team practice last night.

Isn’t she cute!

20111215-034710.jpg

I’m a member of the Hanes Comfort Crew and they sent us this super soft amazing hair towel for us to sample. Hanes just launched a new “Hanes for the Home” line that I am so excited about – the same super soft materials we love for our bed and bath linens. I can’t wait to test out more products!

I highly recommend this hair towel – it has just the right amount of stretch, is absorbent and ultra soft just like you’d expect from Hanes.

Fashion Friday: Tis the Season to Style in Le Top

I am obsessed with the ultra adorable children’s outfits from Le Top. Take a peek at Kenzie and Kyle styling in front of our Christmas tree in a few of my fave picks of the season…. This online shop for children’s clothing is my absolute favorite for super cute kids outfits – especially for holiday and seasonal themed outfits.

And yes, our tree is TREEMENDOUS. We love getting a huge tree as it is the focal point of all our decorations and our home during the holiday season. We never spend as much time in our family room together as during the month of December – the tree just draws us all together. It’s wonderful!

Fashion Friday: My Holiday American Girl

How cute is this American Girl dress for both your little girl and her favorite doll? Free shipping too until November 22nd on orders over $100 with code EMFREE1122.

Having my own little girl is like having a doll of my own – dressing my cutie in this for the holidays is so sweet. And Kenzie finds it incredibly exciting to dress up both herself and her doll in the same outfit.

American Girl offers some styling fancy outfits for the kids & their dolls this season – but the price tag is steep.

Kenzie is wearing the Merry & Bright Dress for both Dolls and Girls. I wish they sold the matching headband for her too as it is adorable on the doll. This whole outfit is so cute I can not stand it. I wish I could buy every matching doll & girl outfit in the catalog!

20111117-100824.jpg

The prices are not easy on your wallet, but the kids, Mom, and Nana will adore their looks. $36 for the doll outfit which includes, red shoes, cream tights, a headband, and charm. $68 for Kenzie’s dress.

As for sizing – it seems true to size to slightly small. Kenzie is wearing a size 6 and she just turned 6. It fits perfectly. The dress is a bit short, but I think that is the style. The 7 would be huge but a 6X might have been a bit longer to give us room to grow for next season.

Disclosure : Thanks to American Girl for this sample outfit to facilitate our review. As always all thoughts and opinions are our own – along with the American Girl obsession. The catalog alone is like a gift – I read that thing cover to cover ten times over!
