Gnomeo and Juliet Movie Review: Funny and One-of-a-Kind

After watching the premiere of Touchstone Pictures’ Gnomeo and Juliet, I realized that I’ve never seen a movie quite like it before. The movie, which is coming out this Friday, was the first movie I’ve ever seen that brings yard gnomes to life in a creative remix of the classic Shakespeare play. Another unique part of the movie that makes it entertaining for all ages is that Elton John’s music is the soundtrack. Even the toughest critic can’t help but laugh at a yard gnome dancing on a computer keyboard to “Benny and the Jets.”

Things to look for in the movie:

1. Favorite character: The Frog Anette (voiced by Ashley Jensen). Her hilarious voice and witty lines make her an easy crowd pleaser.

2. Favorite scene: Be on the lookout for the part when Juliet is preparing to venture out of the yard for a flower. Juliet, Nanette, and Gnomeo are all great in these few scenes, and the Elton John music works perfectly with the storyline!

3. Best action scene: When Gnomeo decides to pull some of his own pranks on the Red Gnomes’ yard, his life takes a very unexpected but exciting turn. You’ll love every moment!

As you can see, this movie made me #1 gnome fan. Never knew what I missing out on until I got my very first gnome hat. Too cool, don’t you think?

Disclosure: Thanks to Disney for the invite to this movie premiere and for covering our travel expenses. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

  1. Thanks, Kristen! I was definitely loving that hat. Have fun with your daughter. I’m sure she’ll love it as much as I did.
