Something new in the apple world has come along! And this is one introduction you will not want to miss this Fall. We are gaga for these apples! The SweeTango apple is a cross between the Honesycrisp and Zestar varieties – we were able to sample the very 1st harvest of 2011. They are grown by Next Big Thing and let me tell you they are DELICIOUS!!!!!!
You can buy these apples at Walmart stores now. The SweeTango apples are fighting unhealthy snacks this fall for what they call “share of stomach,” and after our taste test – my kids are certainly opting for Apples at snack time this fall. The kids are enamored with them – even if dipped in Peanut Butter. Of course at ages 3 and 5 they do prefer I peel the skin off, but then they are good to devour their yummy apples.
I was inspired by this box of apples that was overnighted to my house to do some serious Fall baking. Yes, this undomestic Mama went crazy baking – the simple way of course- Apple Crisp. The kids were so impressed with my efforts – the result was delicious and of course Kenzie and Kyle enjoyed helping and watching the entire process. Which seriously was ridiculously easy as I just bought the little mix of “apple crisp” at the grocery store – the only other ingredient I needed was to melt butter and bake! Yum!
