Home Free Allergy Free Cookies

Did you know that food allergies impact an estimated 3 million children in the US? My 16 month old is part of these statistics. He suffers from an egg allergy which luckily I discovered before even letting him taste eggs. He was covered in eczema as a baby – and as soon as I stopped breastfeeding it disappeared within days. This led me to believe he had a food allergy. Skin tests revealed the culprit to be eggs as opposed to the dreaded peanut. So we’ve been avoiding all egg products or foods that contain eggs. Which just about eliminates every form of cookie or cake with the exception of sweet tasting animal crackers or graham crackers. Recently, we were sent samples of seriously yummy allergy free cookies to test from HomeFree as they’ve launched a new brand of organic, ready-to-eat, whole grain cookies and coffee cakes free of common food allergens including peanuts, tree nuts, dairy and eggs. These cookies were totally delicious. Kyle devoured them and I admit the rest of the family tried to ration off our shares to him but they were so tasty we all ate our fair share! Oatmeal chocolate chip was my favorite flavor and I’ll definitely be ordering more as I love to have allergy free sweet snacks for him on hand when we go to birthday parties or other social gatherings. You can purchase at Whole Foods or online. HomeFree was created by a Mom whose son suffered from food allergies. They are made in a dedicated baking facility, where it conducts allergen testing on ingredients and random product batches to ensure that each product is free of common food allergens. Note: the Manufacturer states they are fine for most people allergic to wheat (not gluten-free; contain oats)and they are fine for most people allergic to soy (most contain soy lecithin).
