I know escaping at home can sound impossible. I find a few simple strategies – that include just moments of escape – really help me keep a positive attitude during my winter challenges. It may sound silly but for me, time with my Kindle in my favorite reading chair in a cozy nook in my bedroom takes me to another world. Finding a spot to relax at home is huge – even if only for a few minutes – being able to decompress, read a book, or meditate for a few minutes really helps me stay positive and let go of the worries.
Even laundry can be an escape.A quick whiff of your detergent and the smell of those fresh clean towels can trigger all kinds of great memories and moments. Smell is a powerful sense! Rather than think of laundry as a chore (minus cleaning up those throw up towels from the flu!!!), I like to think of the clean laundry that comes out on the other side. Nothing like fluffy clean towels!
And we recently renovated our shower in our Master Bathroom. That 10 minute shower has become an absolute ritual of escape for me now!

What We Look for in a Family Vacation Escape
My kids just got over the flu and I’m desperate for sunshine and a real live escape too. We’ve planned a trip to Florida for some sunshine, Disney magic, and a Caribbean cruise!
Honestly, anytime away together as a family and some place warm is pure magic. It doesn’t really matter where we go as long as we are together and have a bit of sunshine to warm our souls during those cold winter months. The days are long, but those years are short. I cherish all of the moments I have making memories with my growing family.
We absolutely love time to relax, try new things, enjoy the sunshine, and just PLAY together! I think our upcoming cruise will fit that bill as these photos from past vacations definitely let us create magical memories as a family.
