Keurig 2.0 Warming our Winter Days #JustBrewIt

Thanks to Keurig for sending us their latest genius home brewing system to warm our winter days with all kinds of yummy hot beverages. We’ve been fans of Keurig since they originally introduced their genius machine, so we were thrilled to test out the Keurig 2.0 – Keurig’s most innovative home brewing machine and their latest hot product.

Pricing on the Keurig website is $199 but I’ve seen it for less online so definitely keep an eye out for sales.

Keurig 2.0 Highlights

So what’s changed? The new Keurig 2.0 can make 1 cup at a time or an entire Carafe which is essentially 4 cups all at once. Awesome! It even comes with a Carafe for you to brew with and sample K-Carafe Cups that brew this larger sized amount for you all at once. My Keurig 2.0 K550 also came with a free assortment of K-cups too which we thought was a nice touch to get us going with the new 2.0.

Keurig 2.0 K550

There’s over 400 varieties of drinks you can make in your Keurig and I profess this winter season my family is partial to Hot Apple Cider and Sea Salt Caramel Hot Chocolate. Both of these flavors are absolutely delicious and every time the kids come in from playing outside in this freezing weather, we immediately just brew a cup of Hot Chocolate for them. So simple and easy as I’ve got my Keurig on the counter teed up and ready to roll thanks to the generous reservoir of water it holds and within a minute the kids are armed with their hot chocolate! Love it.

The new Keurig has a easy to use digital touchscreen too which allows you to choose the size of your beverage and note if you are having coffee or “other” when brewing so your drink turns out just right.

It’s important to mention that the new Keurig only brews “Keurig” K-Cups, however this is not a big deal at all as TONS of brands make Keurig official K-Cups. In fact, our hot cider and sea salt caramel hot chocolate from Target Archer Farms brand are “Keurig” and work in our 2.0 Keurig perfectly. Awesome!

I just noticed that I need to use “newer” K-cups since the introduction of the new Keurig 2.0 versus Keurig K-Cups I have in my pantry that were likely made prior to the introduction of the 2.0. The technology on the new Keurig reads the cups to be sure you get just the right brewed beverage. If you were to use a non-Keurig K-Cup, the 2.0 will not brew your beverage so just make sure you are using a “Keurig” K-cup even if made by Green Mountain, Target, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Swiss Miss, Lipton, etc.
