Lakehouse Hotel And Resort, San Marcos, CA

Lake San Marcos

Its not often that a town has a gem so hidden and sacred, even the residents don’t know about it.  But that is the case in San Marcos, a town just 45 minutes north of the beaches, attractions and city life of downtown San Diego, CA.  Those familiar with the area have long sought out the peacefulness of its uncrowded open spaces, but it wasn’t until recently that at the center of it all was revealed a spectacular lake.  A lake large enough to enjoy an afternoon of boating, fishing, or bird watching, yet small enough to provide a sense of serenity.

The Property

Previously, the mid-sized man made lake was largely enjoyed by those lucky enough to live on or adjacent to it, but with the spectacular $9 Million renovation of Lakehouse Hotel & Resort, its incredible attributes are now known to the public.     Situated lakefront with magnificent luxurious accommodations, amenities and views, Lakehouse is poised to become an area attraction in itself, but thanks in part to its size and neighborhood restrictions, will always maintain its placid allure.

Lakehouse Hotel and Resort: Things To Do

The Resort, which just reopened this June, is according to General Manager, Dieter Schmitz, modeled after a modern day “dirty dancing.”  Activities including kayaking, water bicycling, fishing, tennis, and volleyball in addition to two salt water pools, a semi private golf course and picnic areas ensure you’ll never have to leave the property.  However, if you do choose to explore, there’s plenty nearby including outlet shopping in neighboring Carlsbad, the world famous San Diego Zoo, and Legoland,. For the adults, the area is rich in brewing history with 75 microbreweries including Stone, which various events, tours and gourmet farm to table food.

Lakehouse Hotel and Resort: Accommodations

In addition to spacious guest rooms, the property also features a number of cottages, which at $300 for a one bedroom and $450 for two, are surprisingly affordable.  Perfect for families, the cottages offer ample space and lakefront views complete with rocking chairs and personal firepits.  Enjoy roasting marshmallows on your back deck reminiscent of a summer vacation home or join in the making of s’mores every Saturday night at one of the properties main picnic areas.

 Lakehouse Hotel and Resort “Glamping”

If you enjoy the comforts of home but your family craves a bit more of an outside adventure, Lakehouse is planning the perfect compromise with “Glamping.”  Set to open April 1st, the lakeside “Glampgrounds” on the outskirts of the property will offer the “escape on the lake” experience without making you pitch a tent or start a fire.    This is a spot where everyone gets exactly what they want, including a chef on hand preparing three meals a day.

Room rates start from $169 per night during low season and $199 per

night during high season. Unique packages are also available depending

on the season. For more information, visit lakehousehotelandresort.com
