Leapfrog Leapster Explorer Review & Giveaway

We had the opportunity to test out the new Toy Story 3 , Madagascar (emphasis on Math skills!) and Disney Princess cartridge games. Mackenzie, aged 4, loved them all and really enjoyed the touch screen.

We tested several “leaplets” – Kenzie’s favorite was an app with a dental theme called Sugar Bugs where the kids needed to clean the teeth with a brush, floss and pick. Each level forced you to clean faster and faster and clean up messier teeth too. Great for enforcing dental health to the kids and the actual game forced Kenzie to think quick which I loved.

Overall, the Explorer is fabulous and I highly recommend it.We had zero complaints and if you are in the market for a Leapster or upgrade, this is the model you need to buy come July 15th.

Both my boys are in love with toy story right now, and my kindergardner just went to the dentist for the first time so the tooth game sounds cool too. thanks for the chance

  77. How cool is this? We love Leap Frog toys at our house and this new Leapster looks amazing. We would love one! The touch screen and ability to download apps seem like great upgrades to the original Leapster.

  130. My son is technologically inclined to say the least lol. Any time I can get him to play learning games is a plus. He loves leapster products. His sister has a leap pad, but he doesnt much like playing it as it is baby pink lol!

  133. My daughter loves to play with my moms DS but it’s a little too advanced for her. She whines whenever we take it away from her. This would be perfect because we don’t have to worry so much about her breaking it and I am sure it’s way more kid friendly than the Nintendo DS.

  265. we have the “old” leaster (that IMO isn’t that old – I think she’s had it for a year ;-), and my 4 1/2 year old loves it; I’d love to be able to hand hers (and all 20 cart’s) down to her brother so she could have the upgradable one with the apps – this sounds like such a great product!
