Mother’s Day 5K with my Little Girl

She’s a runner! It’s so exciting to see your children grow and reach that point where they can begin to share your passions and interests. To celebrate Mother’s Day, my 8 yr old Kenzie and I ran a 5K together that is just for girls. The vibe of the race is awesome as everyone runs a 2 loop 5K course downtown styling in their pink race t-shirts – and it’s all women! From little girls to grandmas.

I love these photos of my daughter and I running together. Very special!

It was a steamy hot day for Kenzie’s 2nd “official” 5K and the first time she really “RAN” the entire race as the last time she did a 5K was when she was in Kindergarten at Disney and the goal was just to be sure we finished! This time we ran for fun but Kenzie is a hard worker and loves to run, so she was happy to let us push the pace.

We ran 25:25 which was 8:11 pace per mile and Kenzie did fantastic!

3.1 miles is a TON for a little kid and I was impressed with her determination and effort.

  1. I seriously can’t believe she is so fast – like mother, like daughter! Sorry I missed you guys! I ended up working out in the morning – I thought it might be hot! Clearly the heat didn’t effect your times LOL
