DreamWorks’ I Am Number Four that comes out today has a little bit of everything for everyone. In fact, I watched this movie late at night running on little to no sleep and was wide awake and enjoying every moment.
I have to mention the fresh face lead in the move Alex Pettyfer . I’m a huge Dawson’s Creek fan, and Alex is kinda like a tougher version of Dawson, if you ask me, and his acting throughout the whole movie was excellent.
The basic idea of the movie is that John (Alex Pettyfer) is one of the few survivors from his planet, and aliens are trying to hunt them down one by one. John is next…number four on the list. What I love about this movie is that I’m a sucker for a good love story, and the movie has several interesting relationships going on that make this movie perfect for a date night out. There is definitely the jump-in-your-seat moments from all the cool effects and action, and since girls falling in love with vampires seem to be the norm nowadays, I think it’s a safe bet that an alien/human girl romance will be a similar hit with females in the audience.
If you’re thinking about taking your kids to this movie, older kids and teens will probably enjoy the cool fight scenes and action, but you may want to avoid brining younger kids who may not be able to handle the violence. For a date night idea that will make both parties happy, this would be my personal top pick!
