Like many other parents across the nation, I’ve been totally inspired by Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution which airs on ABC on Friday evenings. I need to do better for my kids and offer them the least processed options available. At the end of the day, my kids may not like veggies – but they also do not need to eat junk. I need to train them to like real healthy foods -just like my continual fruit introductions at an early age thank goodness created 2 munchkins who devour fruit – Kyle eats a pint of raspberries a day!
So, in a bold move, I cut the chicken nuggets from our house a few weeks ago. Instead,I’m serving up these delicious Tyson chicken strips. They come in a large bag -frozen – and I can pull the desired number of strips from the bag to nuke them in the microwave for a quick dinner for the kids. I’ll serve them up with a sweet potato or frozen peas or canned green beans and dinner is ready in an instant. Bye bye nuggets! After seeing this video – you’ll want to say farewell to the nuggets too!

Ye gods, if you want to do better for your children, please just roast a nice organic chicken yourself and slice it up. This product is loaded with sodium – something close to 500 mg per 3-ounce serving – not to mention all kinds of chemical preservatives. You also need to be careful with fresh chickens, as the sodium content varies wildly – and is especially high in the broth-injected ones.
