I’m an obsessive reader and read over 150 books per year – it’s my relaxation and escape before falling asleep at night. Reading is my guilty pleasure and I’m always looking for new authors and books to enjoy. I recently read an advance & autographed copy of Debbie Macomber’s new book, Rose Harbor In Bloom, from Walmart since she is one their top authors and known as the “Queen of Women’s Fiction”.
I really enjoyed this easy to read book which takes place in an idyllic small town, Cedar Cover, and focuses on the friendships, families, and romances of the guests at a charming Bed & Breakfast, called The Inn at Rose Harbor.
The Inn at Rose Harbor hits shelves today, on Tuesday, August 13th 2013. If you purchase Rose Harbor in Bloom at Walmart, you’ll save 40% off the publishers price which makes it just $15.60. It’s the 2nd in her popular Cedar Cove series – I’m now anxious to go back and read the 1st book!
I typically read thrillers, young adult dystopian novels, supernatural themed books, historical fiction, and steamy romance books. I’d categorize the Inn at Rose Harbor as a quiet romance versus something hot and heavy, as there were never any steamy scenes, but instead, characters and romances are slowly developed matching in my opinion how real life romance typically happens to us all. I loved that element of the book as we saw the heartbreak and obstacles standing in the path of love for each character.
The owner of the Inn, Jo Marie is a young widow in her 30’s whose husband died in Afghanistan. Jo Marie hopes to enjoy the company of guests by opening her Inn, and she hopes it will heal her and in small ways, heal others as they stay in her beautiful B&B. Guests, Mary and Annie both find love and joy and even a bit of heartbreak on their journey to connecting with who they are “meant to be” with.
Debbie’s writing and insight into love and relationships was touching and easy to read – so perfect for the beach!
This series is so popular, that the Hallmark Channel is launching a new original series – Cedar Cove – set to air on Saturdays at 8:00/7:00 C and starring Andie MacDowell. I cant wait to check this show out as I’m sure I’ll love it.
