With the turn of the New Year, millions of people around the world resolve to focus on better health. What better resolution can someone make? If you have your health you have everything and diet and exercise are a huge part of the health equation. I’m fit, healthy, and exercise regularly, but I always use this time of year to remind myself to be more committed during the cold winter months to exercise, drink more water and try to eat healthier.

Dieting isn’t on my agenda, but I always look for convenient healthy snacks and meals – especially my problem tends to run in the direction of getting so busy that I forget to eat when I’m running around with the kids and juggling my responsibilities at home and on the blog.

Special K sent me this kit to sample their protein meal bars, protein shakes, and protein cereal so I could experience their PROTEIN EFFECT.

Check out the newly reformulated Special K Protein Plus® cereal.

This cereal was really intriguing to me as it has 10 GRAMS of Protein along with 3 grams of Fiber. I’m always struggling to incorporate more protein into my diet as I’m not a big meat eater or giant fan of downing a ton of milk or yogurt so all these products with enhanced protein really interest me.

I thought the cereal was delicious – it’s always hard to describe flavor but think on the side of a heavier and sweeter tasting cornflake. It really tastes great!

Here are all the protein bars we received.  They are a HEARTY snack and basically a small meal in itself if you prefer to eat several small meals a day like me. The chocolate varieties are always my preference, but the new Special K Protein Meal Bar flavors, including Caramel Peanut and Cranberry Walnut, will be available starting in August at Walmart. Again these are FILLING and really a meal versus a quick small granola bar snack. So for people on the go or those needing to feel full, these are a good route to go for a meal or really big snack.

And miraculously the Special K Protein shakes have 10 GRAMS of Protein and 5 GRAMS of FIBER. AWESOME. And they taste excellent too – and I especially recommend you drink them chilled. Again, I prefer chocolate shakes, but the Special K Protein Shake flavor, Strawberry Banana, will also be available starting in August.
