Summer Fun for Kids: Shaving Cream For the Win!

Looking for cheap and fabulous fun in the backyard this summer? I promise you’ll get some “Cool Mom” points if you let your kids loose with a can of shaving cream in the backyard.

Playing with shaving cream is such a simple activity and provides tons of entertainment for young children. I recommend it for kids aged 2+ and most kids 10 & under will find it exciting. Kids love the tactile experience and Mom will appreciate the genius simplicity of allowing their kids to shape, mold, trace patterns, and build with shaving cream.

The only thing you’ll need to purchase is a can of shaving cream. I like to buy an inexpensive brand like Barbosal at Walmart which runs you just about $1 per can. Talk about cheap fun – I love it!

My kids shout with joy when I let them know it’s a “Shaving Cream” afternoon and you can see just how much fun they are having going wild with it on our kid play table in the backyard.

Shaving Cream Activity

It is certainly a messy activity, but one that is ideal for summertime. All this fun came from 1 can of Barbosal Shaving cream.

This Mom likes to keep things as easy and simple as possible, even when we’re doing a crazy shaving cream day. To minimize the mess and give my kids the freedom to go nuts with the shaving cream, I dress them kids in swimsuits so we can easily hose them down afterwards which is a highlight in it of itself.

What You’ll Need for Shaving Cream Backyard Fun:

The only thing you’ll need to purchase is a can of shaving cream. I like to buy an inexpensive brand like Barbosal at Walmart which runs you just about $1 per can. We generally use about 1 can or less per play session between 2-4 children. When I’m shopping, I usually buy 3 cans at a time because I find that once I let my kids have a shaving cream afternoon, they’ll be asking for it again within 24-48 hrs as it really is SOOOO much fun.

Wait for a hot summer day so you can dress your kiddos in a bathing suit and let them go crazy on a backyard play table. This makes the clean up very easy as the kids will be thrilled to get hosed down or run around in the sprinkler afterwards!

  1. My kids would love this! I’m pinning this to my Summertime Fun board. I can’t wait to do this on a hot summer afternoon when we all need some water to cool off.

  2. This is a great idea! I never thought about doing this outside. I keep a bottle for my little Dante in the tub because he loves (and he is always stealing mine while I am trying to shave my legs!) Thanks!

I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s
both educative and interesting, and without a doubt, you have
hit the nail on the head. The problem is an issue that too few folks are speaking intelligently about.
Now i’m very happy that I found this during my search for something concerning this.
