Jennifer Hudson & her Adorable Son at the SELF Awards

Isn’t she gorgeous? I love this photo of Jennifer and her son.

Proud mama, Jennifer Hudson, is SELF’s September cover model and was awarded a SELF Women Doing Good Award at their event on Tuesday in New York City at the IFC Building.  Joining her were other honorees—Christina Hendricks, Lisa Ling, Jessica Seinfeld (who came with her hubby Jerry) and three amazing women that were chosen out of thousands of reader submissions.

Tori Spelling Goes Old Hollywood on the cover of Parenting Magazine

On stands now! Love this pic of Tori and her family. So very very old Hollywood.

Take a peek at the snippets from the interview below and the actual cover shot too too.  My fave quote from  Tori, ” I  screw up as a mommy every single day.” This celebrity Mom is hands on and real – or at least that is how I always imagine her to be and her interviews and quotes show her as being vulnerable like the rest of mere mortals when it comes to motherhood.

The pregnant actress, author, reality star and mom joins husband Dean McDermott and their two adorable children Liam, 4 and Stella, 3 in an old Hollywood-inspired Halloween costume feature for Parenting’s October issue, on stands today.

Tori opens up to Parenting about how motherhood has made her more confident, how it’s helped heal her troubled relationship with mom Candy, and the one thing she hopes her children don’t inherit from her.  Interview highlights include:

  • ·         “I wasn’t truly comfortable with myself until I was about 30.” I feel like I missed out on some really great opportunities in my 20s because I didn’t feel good about myself. I spent so much time and energy wondering if I wasn’t worthy, and trying to find people to validate me, instead of validating myself. When I think of what my greatest wish for my kids is, it’s for them to know who they are, and be proud and confident, before 30.

  • ·         “I have a whole new appreciation for my own mom these days.” …my mom is a really great grandmother—she’s super present in the kids’ lives. [Parenthood] bonds you on a whole different level.

  • ·         “There’s something I did when I was young that I hope my kids won’t do.” I held everything in emotionally. I was scared to cry, or if people asked me what was wrong, I’d say “nothing.”

Gwen Stefani to Launch Harajuku Mini for Target

Wow! Target scores another HUGE name and style maven to bring us even more of the looks we all love – for less. I’m certainly not complaining about this combo- really what could be better than Target mixed together with Gwen Stefani? Love both of them!

And Gwen is known for bringing her own tots to Fashion shows, so I imagine her kidlets will soon be walking the runway for Target wearing this new line!

Here’s what Gwen had to say about her new line – hitting Target stores November 2011.  “Harajuku Mini is a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the super cute and playful kids clothing you find in Japan. The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed,” said Stefani. “Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid’s clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices.”

Harajuku Mini for Target is inspired by Japanese street-style and infused with a Pop Art aesthetic.  Retail prices will primarily range from $3.99 to $29.99.

Alyson Hanigan Spills about her Mother’s Day

Take a peek at our interview with celebrity Mom, Alyson Hanigan. Here’s the scoop with lots of fun answers. Alyson was answered questions and chatted with mom bloggers to promote Johnson’s Baby amazing charity campaign – click LIKE on Johnson’s Baby Facebook page and $1 is donated to the March of Dimes!

Q: How did you spend Mother’s Day?

Alyson
: Aww.  Mother’s Day was just lovely.  My husband and daughter tried to do breakfast in bed, but it ended up really just being coffee in bed, but that’s fine!  My daughter said “Happy Mother’s Day!” and I got it on

video, so that was lovely.  We spent the day at the beach together and she
scribbled some cards for me and then we all went out to dinner together.
It was a nice day with presents and flowers, and my husband did every
diaper, which he does a lot anyway, but it was still nice.

Q: What is your daughter into now?  What are certain books you like to read together or an activity you like to do together?

Alyson:
For her birthday, we gave her a play kitchen set and she loves that.  We
play kitchen a lot.  I found this great cookbook that has gluten-free
recipes and we love this gluten-free muffin recipe that we make together a
lot.  She doesn’t have a food allergy, but when we can go gluten-free, why
not?

While she is taking a nap, I do all the measuring and lay everything out
so she comes in and dumps all the little bows into the big bowl.   We stir
it together and then she winds up eating all the blueberries so I always
have to put more blueberries in the mixture.  She also likes to pretend to
make the muffins herself in her kitchen.  We also love going on walks in
our neighborhood, looking at all the birds or whatever she finds.  She
loves pinecones and then getting the sap off her hands is big.  She also
loves singing, especially her ABCs.  Twinkle Twinkle is very big in this
house!

We planted  a bunch of organic vegetables and fruits in our garden.  We
have this blueberry tree, so we go out to pick blueberries and
strawberries too, so that’s been fun.  Right now, an artichoke is coming
up so I will teach her how to eat an artichoke.  I’m sure she won’t like
it, but it will be fun to show her that it’s grown, we pick it and then
eat it.

Q: What prompted you to work with Johnson’s Baby and the March of Dimes?

Alyson:
Well, it’s a fantastic charity that they’re supporting, March of Dimes.
And Johnson’s is such an incredible company so it was a no-brainer for me.
First of all, it’s so easy for anyone to make a difference.  It takes less
than 5 minutes to go on the Johnson’s Baby Facebook page and hit like and
then that’s a dollar to the March of Dimes. It’s a great for anyone, no
matter how busy you are, to make a difference.  I was absolutely happy to
lend my support.

Question:

How has being a mother changed your outlook on life?

Alyson:
Well it has completely changed everything in the very best way.  It has given me a greater appreciation for the little things in life, which I
thought I always had.  But seeing the world through my daughter’s eyes is
so inspirational and it’s such a good reminder of how you can find joy in
the little things.

How you can help …..

Alyson: Just want to reiterate how easy it is for people to go onto Johnson’s Baby Facebook page and hit the like button, and then March of Dimes get a
dollar!  It’s so easy for people to make a difference and help out.  I
know I’ve said it before, but March of Dimes is so important and such a
great charity.

Hanging with Jennifer Garner to help Save the Children

What a day! We got to spend time with the always lovely Jennifer Garner and as usual it did not disappoint  - especially for this die hard once obsessed Alias fan! We took the train up to NYC to package snack boxes for 900 kids in Kentucky as part of an event to help  Jennifer Garner promote Frigidaire’s campaign to “Set a Place at the Kids Table” to help children in need.  So run over and check it out – set the table on line and Frigidaire will donate $1 each time you play – up to $500,000!!!

My kids had a blast and Kyle was a real charmer with Ms. Jennifer. Seriously he was too stinking cute in his conversations with her. She said he was just melting her heart. I have some really cute shots from my personal camera – but am still in NYC so haven’t gotten a chance to upload. So here’s a video and a few pics in the meantime from the AP wired images and my iPhone.  My kids were serious about their task of packing boxes – kids love to help and the 12 kids at the event worked super hard to get the job done.  A great way to physically help our kids make the connection between their efforts and giving back.

And the scoop from my conversations with the gorgeous Jennifer: She was a busy working Mom today as she flew in from California late last night, went on The View this morning, did some interviews before our event, then joined us all for our Craft time and to help us box up all those healthy treats.

What she said:  ”I feel like a drag queen with all this make up on!” (They really did cake her up with base I guess for all the photos and her TV shoot – but she was beautiful and stunning as you’d expect of a movie star like her!) And when it was time to go she apologized for needing to rush but this hands on Mom said her daughters called and were BEGGING her to pretty please be home to tuck us in tonight. So she was going to rush off to just ONE store in NYC she was desperate to stop at and then fly all the way back to LA in time for bed. Thank goodness there’s a big time difference! Truly, after meeting her on multiple occasions, she really is a genuine, down to earth Mom who clearly prioritizes her family – and is amazing with children.

What she wore: Zac Posen, Yves Saint Laurent and Neil Lang

My kids loved hanging out with Vera and Audrey’s kids again (my close friends above with me!) We only see these peeps on our bloggy vacations but the kids are fast friends since they are alway sharing the experience of a lifetime with each other!

Here’s the real official info: Philanthropist and mom of two, Jennifer Garner teamed up with Frigidaire and a dozen kids in NYC to package food for kids in need in an effort to inspire Americans to give back this holiday season.  Starting today, when people set a place at the “virtual kids’ table” for a child in need at www.Frigidaire.com , Frigidaire will donate $1 to Save the Children’s U.S. Programs.

Snack Time for Denise Richards and her girls

Last week, Denise Richards took her girls, Lola and Sam, to the park in LA after school. During their mommy-daughter time they all enjoyed  Sensible Portions snacks (Veggie Straws, Potato Straws, etc).  There are some cute shots of the three girls enjoying their treats.

I’ve never heard of Sensible Portions before but here’s the PR Speak they sent us: ” Sensible Portions innovative guilt-free snacks are designed to satisfy every craving, without sacrificing great taste.  The convenient packaging provides built-in portion control (Sensible Suggestions™) and makes snacking in a controlled serving easy.  All products are made from all-natural ingredients and contain NO preservatives and NO Trans Fat.”  Sounds pretty healthy to me!
