4 Reasons You’ll love Aladdin

4 Reasons You'll Love Aladdin

1. Will Smith as the Genie

He’s fabulous. As you know the guy can act, sing, and dance – and he adds all of that in a tremendous awesome way. He’s comedic but also sensitive and shares a great relationship with Aladdin that I loved.  This role seems to have been meant for Will Smith. He was so entertaining and fun. Early on when he first appears as the genie and escapes from the lantern it’s a little weird as he’s a giant legless genie, but as the film moves on, I promise you’ll get past that legless genie bit and fall in love with him the Genie.

2. Great Music

Classic songs you’ll recognize and love if you are a Disney fan. Re-made with their own twists and turns but absolutely beautiful. I loved the music! There’s also a few big dance numbers that are very entertaining, joyful and just pure fun!

3. Fantastic Action Packed Storyline

The movie is a full 2 hours but never once were we bored! Action, a love story, a magical genie, and dark forces at work with the evil Jafar — along with dance numbers and music throughout – made this is a fabulous film to watch.

Take it for what it is – a remake and a wonderful entertaining tale! If so, I promise you’ll enjoy it! And if you haven’t seen it Aladdin in years, I believe you’ll think it feels fresh and somehow completely new ! That’s how myself, my children and the bulk of the audience that saw the show in my theater all felt. Everyone gave it a rave review, is telling others to go see it and mentions how they want to go see it again!

4. Spectacular Scenery

From the desserts to the sea, the scenery was stunning. The buildings, the costumes, and the landscapes were stunning. And there’s a magic carpet too – who incidentally was one of my favorite characters in the movie! Whimsical and fun!

Is Aladdin Kid Friendly?

Yes! Overall, this film is very kid friendly. No profane language or curse words, no sexual content, and no killing. Yay!

There was no profane language that I heard whatsoever and the love story included a few innocent kisses – very sweet! Kids in the theater during my showing handled the drama well during the tense action scenes too. I saw my advanced screening of Aladdin sitting in row with 4 year old little girl and a 5 year old little boy and they did great and loved it. If your kids get tense during those action scenes, I think hand holding will help them through it!

For a preschooler, a few parts could be a bit scary during the dramatic scenes when you worry about Aladdin or Jasmine’s safety. In the cave, near the beginning of the film when Aladdin first finds the magic lamp, kids might worry he might fall off a cliff and perish. And in the end of the film, during the final showdown with the evil Jafar, Jafar’s bird turns into a giant dinosaur sized evil bird which chases Aladdin and Jasmine who are trying to escape with the help of their Magic Carpet.

The Evil Jafar can be a scary dude but you never officially see him kill anyone with certainty. (Early in the film he shoves a guard down a well – but you don’t see anything or know for certain that he killed someone) Movie goers and kids will just know he’s the dark evil character in this movie. Think the bad guy wanting all the power and will do anything to get it!
