Something about angel food cake, homemade whipped cream and berries screams summer. I am a chocolate gal myself, but when it’s super warm outside, you totally want something cool and refreshing for dessert. I think strawberries + angel food cake with some homemade whipped cream is perfect.

I am also a huge fan of mason jars.. so dessert in a jar is my kind of style 🙂

Strawberry Angel Food Cake Dessert Jars Recipe

here’s what you need:

  • 1 angel food cake { store bought: about 7″ }
  • 1. 5 lb. fresh strawberries
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 c. confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

directions:

  1. Slice angel food cake into 1″ – 2′  inch cubes { doesn’t need to be perfect! } divide your cubes into half since you’ll be layering! Place bottom layer portion first. Then layer with strawberries & spoonful of whipped cream. Repeat 2x! 🙂
  2. For the homemade whipped cream: Start off by placing your bowl in the freezer for 10 minutes { while prepping your cubes + strawberries!* } Place cold bowl under the mixer — add the 1 pint of heavy cream and vanilla … start to mix on medium. Whip the mixture on medium speed while gradually adding the powdered sugar then increase the speed to high and whip until it goes from liquid to creamy { around 3 minutes }
  3.  I made these cute desserts in mini 8 oz half pint jars. Made approx 8. You can play around with measurements & size jars. Double for more dessert 🙂
