5 Ways To Use Peppermint Oil This Winter

Winter months around here can be rough. Minimal sun, gray days, freezing mornings and it is a lot easier to pick up sickness and those winter blues! During this time of year, I love to add essential oils to my daily routine in some way. I have many favorites, but peppermint oil is my go to winter oil!

Here are some great ways to use peppermint oil during the winter:

Inhaling the  diffused peppermint oil can often times can immediately unclog our sinuses and offer relief to those scratchy throats. Peppermint acts as an expectorant and may provide relief for colds, cough, sinusitis, asthma, and bronchitis. Great item to have on hand for the family during sick season

When your joints get achy… maybe even after shoveling to much snow or all those changing temps bother your aches and pains  Applying some pure peppermint oil mixed with lavender oil can cool muscles like an ice bath, but help you to stay warm and dry.

NaturalEnergizerInstead of an energy drink in the winter, take a few whiffs of peppermint. It will perk you up! Wake up in the morning and start your day on the right foot.

FEVER

Because peppermint oil has cooling effects, it is an excellent natural treatment to bring down a fever especially in children. Keep some in your medicine cabinet and simply mix peppermint oil with coconut oil and rub it on a child’s neck and on the bottom of their feet help stabilize the fever.

SKINLOVE 
Peppermint oil is very calming and can help skin with inflammation.  A great thing to try during the winter is mixing peppermint oil into lip balm and body lotion for a nice cooling sensation.

I love adding it into a diffuser which allows me to breathe it in, a warm bubble bath, massage on my temples when I have a headache. It’s super relaxing and just breathing this in feels so good during the winter.
