Love these new historical dolls from American Girl. It’s the biggest launch in 25 years for American Girl with 2 brand new historical girls launching simultaneously. Aren’t they beautiful? These dolls are extra appealing as 2 friends launching at once. The new historical girls are from New Orleans in the 1850’s – a challenging time in a beautiful southern city full of french influence.
We interviewed Harry Connick Jr. and his daughter Kate, who helped with the launch. Read our interview with Harry Connick Jr. and his 13 year old daughter Kate for details and thoughts about their experience with American Girl and how together they wrote an original song with all proceeds to benefit a music center in New Orleans in support of this launch.
The new characters—one African American and one Caucasian—showcase the power of friendship and community as they reach across the boundaries of race and class to help their families, friends, and city during a time of great need.
