The Foundation is seeking grant applications from families in need of financial assistance to help pay for their child’s health care treatments, services or equipment not covered, or not fully covered, by their commercial health insurance plan. Qualifying families can receive up to $5,000 annually per child. AMAZING right???

Medical Grants for Everyday Families

What makes the UHCCF grants so special is that these medical grants help working families that often fall in the gray area of earning too much money for government help or any public assistance programs, yet, given the complication of medical insurance and ballooning medical expenses, you can imagine their insurance does not cover everything.

From speech delays to needing OT therapies, the medical costs accumulate. Beyond severe medical illnesses, UHCCF has aided children with speech delays or in need of extra OT. My own daughter, Kenzie, has asthma and I know how expensive all her prescription drugs can be on a monthly basis – insurance definitely does not cover it all so you can imagine how everything adds up from extra specialty doctor visits, x-rays, nebulizer treatments, inhalers, etc. I honestly can not fathom how much expenses we would accumulate if we had a child with a more severe illness. I can easily understand how even for families with what should be considered excellent insurance, it is just simply not enough to pay all the expenses.

Check out these sweet adorable little girl who was the recipient of UHCCF’s 20,000th grant. Isn’t she a cutie? Allie has had to overcome the challenges of her Cerebral Palsy which limit her ability to walk. Allie’s grant helped her family purchase a walk aide. For the first time ever, she can walk without an AFO, something she has worn since she was one. Now that she has a walk aide, she can even fit into ballet shoes and join dance which has been her dream!
