Barbie in the Pink Shoes DVD and Transforming Doll

The latest rendition of Barbie on the DVD screen is now available today  as “Barbie in the Pink Shoes.” My kids LOVE the Barbie movies and each Spring & Fall a new edition comes out. Barbie in the Pink Shoes is all ballet, dancing, and music – and of course like most Barbie movies, this one has an underlying theme about friendship and defeating the evil forces in magical worlds!

Truly,  these movies are excellent and ClassyMommy Approved for kids. My son (age 5) even loves watching them with his big sister too! Ballet galore and dance inspiration is included in Barbie in the Pink Shoes.  This time around, Barbie plays Kristyn, a ballerina who ends up being magically whisked away to a world of ballet with her best friend. The ladies need to put on their best dance routines and perform to classic ballets – Swan Lake & Giselle – to defeat an evil Snow Queen.

Take a peek at some of these new toys.Fun stuff!  Ken plays Prince Siegfried and his doll is priced at $12.99. The fancier Barbie Krystin doll  at $19.99 is adorable as it transforms into both outfits that she sports in her Giselle and Swan Lake performance. Our video shows how she works, but basically, you simply TWIRL the doll as if she is dancing into a spin and her new dress appears. Easy enough for my 5 year old to figure out too!

Also, the dancing in this movie is actually REALLY good. Cool tidbit – professional ballerina, Jenelle Manzi with the New York City Ballet, dances “as Barbie” – with the help of motion capture technology. Just 12 years ago, Jenelle was an aspiring dancer featured on Barbie Entertainment’s first title, “Barbie and The Nutcracker” and today, she is living her dream of becoming a professional ballerina and inspiring young girls to follow their dreams. How fun!

Disclsoure: Thanks to Mattel for sending us these free media samples of the dolls shown above & the new DVD in advance of the movie’s release to facilitate our feature. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
