Celebrity Hairstylist’s Favorite Summer Hair How-to Tips: Beachy Waves, Sexy Chignons & Side Swept Braids

The celebrities always have the most AMAZING hair so I love getting tips from the hair stylists to the stars. Here’s some awesome summer tips from celeb stylish Patrick Melville who also works with Aveeno. He has excellent advice on everything from the Side Swept braid to the Sexy Chignon to the most sought after – Beachy Waves.

Patrick Melville, AVEENO Celebrity Hairstylist’s Favorite Summer Hair How-to Tips

1. Side swept braid: Pull hair back to one side either left or right and pinch into side ponytail. Secure with elastic. Split ponytail into three sections and loosely braid be sure not to make it too tight and secure with elastic at end. One thing I look to do to make it a little soft and sexy is to run my fingers up the braid to break it up.

2. Sexy chignon: Slick hair back into either a center side or side part or all back and garb hair at nape of neck and secure into a low ponytail. Section off the ponytail and tease a little with a tail comb. Then twist into a messy chignon for a soft sexy look.  This will keep you cool as well as look fantastic.

3. Beachy Waves: Shampoo and condition hair and blowdry hair freely or with diffuser. No brush needed. Take a 1 inch curling iron and wrap hair loosely around iron from root to ends being sure not to be perfect. Creating a slight “s” bend in the hair. Spray hair with the AVEENO® Nourish+ Fortifying Hairspray throughout hair and then break up girls with your fingers. This also looks great either pulled back or worn loose.

Patrick says that keeping hair healthy in the heat requires a leave in conditioner possibly one with an spf infused as well as weekly deep conditioning treatments. If you are shampooing your hair everyday, try to use a shampoo that is sulfate and paraban free such as Aveeno’s Pure Renewal.
