It’s nearly time to be wishing all those special women in our lives a very Happy Mother’s Day. Nowadays with all the electronic communications of texting and emails, I find that sending or receiving a special card via snail mail is extra special. Putting the written word on paper and taking that time to mail a card truly shows the extra effort and love we feel for those who are so special to us.
Who do you send Mother’s Day cards to? I always send them to my Mom but I also love to send them to the all the special females in my family – from my best friends to my Aunts as well since now most of us are all Moms now or at least Moms in every sense that matters.
I feel like this quote is just how I feel when I think about the special women in my family.
“WE ARE BRAVER AND WISER BECAUSE THEY EXISTED, THOSE STRONG WOMEN… WE ARE WHO WE ARE BECAUSE THEY WERE WHO THEY WERE. IT’S WISE TO KNOW WHERE YOU COME FROM, WHO CALLED YOUR NAME.”
This year will be the first year for all of us without my Great Aunt Kay who was the Matriarch of our family in EVERY sense of the word. She helped raise my Mother and Aunt when their own mother died when my Mom was only 8 years old. I can’t even imagine how hard it was for all of them but they were so lucky to have them in their lives. She lived a full life and passed away at 97 years old, but when I think of Mother’s Day, I still think of her and the incredible influence she had on all of our lives – as to her all grand nieces and nephews she was such a dominant figure in our lives as well. I’m so lucky to have my Mom, my Aunt Sandie, and my cousin Nikki still here with us.
Mom You Mean Everything to Me
I love this video from Hallmark….. and WOW. Yes, I feel the same way. My Mom is my EVERYTHING too. I know I don’t tell my Mom just how much I appreciate her as often I should…..and once becoming a Mom I think we can all appreciate everything our own Moms have done for us even more through that lens.
Put Your Heart to Paper
I love that Hallmark offers such a range of cards so I can get something JUST RIGHT for whoever I need to send it too. More serious, beautiful and appreciative for my own Mom — as both a Mom & now as an amazing Grandmother to my children. My Mom really is my everything. I can’t fathom life without her.
And of course something more cute and funny for my girlfriends or my cousin who are younger Moms that will just appreciate that I’m thinking of them on Mother’s Day.
And Hallmark even has us covered for the Expecting Moms which I adore. I remember getting Mother’s Day cards the year I was expecting my 1st baby – Kenzie – and it was such a highlight. Especially as I was in the throes of all that nausea!
Thanks to Hallmark for reminding us all to take that extra time to tell those we love them just how very special they are. Truly, in today’s digital age, there’s nothing more important than to take a REAL moment to put that PEN to paper and find the right words to tell those we love them and just how very special they are in our lives.
And really, don’t you think every Mom is a super hero in her own special way?
