GODMOTHERED is a comedy about Eleanor, a fairy godmother in training, who comes to the real world to make some magic! This fractured fairy tale is full of lots of comedy and holiday spirit which will make this Disney+ original a new holiday classic.
In GODMOTHERED, this fractured fairy tale has the super HILARIOUS godmother-in-training come to the real world, set in Boston during the holiday season. You’ll love the music and holiday decorations.
Along the way, Eleanor learns lessons about what a real life “happy ending” means as it isn’t always about finding Prince Charming.
I love how Disney has modernized so many of their classic stories to empower women and young girls to find love with family and friends and not just a Prince!
Eleanor learns lessons to bring along to the “fairy tale” world and in her own special way she’s able to help a single mom and her children find their own version of happily ever after as they also help her achieve the coveted fairy godmother status.
GODMOTHERED on Disney Plus is a fabulous family movie that I think you and your kiddos will adore. Although with it’s own unique twist, this movie definitely reminds me of Disney’s ENCHANTED, where Giselle, a princess, come to New York City.
The music and decorations in Boston add to the festive feel of the movie. The magic twists in the movie thanks to Eleanor’s powers bring lots of comedy and silly moments galore. Eleanor and the family even get help setting up Christmas lights from a raccoon and their pet dog transforms into a pig!
Official Synopsis
Set at Christmas time, GODMOTHERED is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell) who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers.
Finding a mislaid letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Isla Fisher) working at a news station in Boston.
Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “Happily Ever After,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover, whether she likes it or not.

We think Director, Sharon Maguire, of “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” “Bridget Jones’s Baby” fame hit a Disney+ homerun with this movie. If you like her style of comedy and relatable characters, I think GODMOTHERED will appeal to you!
