SEARS recently launched a flagship store in San Bruno, CA full of the latest smart technology and has a virtual store, where anyone can shop their CONNECTED SOLUTIONS  online. Plus, Sears is also expanding its smart technology assortment across hundreds of stores nationwide to bring tech to the masses and not just those savvy early adopters!

SEARS is all about helping regular families SIMPLY and EASILY connect technology and bring smart products into their own lives and homes.

Sears Makes Setting Up a Connected Home Easy

Sears Connected Solutions has the cutting-edge home automation products and services to streamline your routine, save you money and let you control so many of your home electronics from the tip of your fingers wherever you are thanks to wireless technology.

For me, shopping on the SEARS CONNECTED SOLUTIONS website was a fabulous experience as it was organized in a way to help me gain some enormous learning about smart products. Beyond just SMART TV’s and streaming awesome media or music, there are so many ways to incorporate smart tech into our lives.

Did you know you can even buy SmartGarage Doors, Smart Thermostats, or Smart Door Locks?

Shopping the website, you’ll see all kinds of categories from smart appliances to wearable fitness technology and more. I love that I could shop easily by category to inspire how I’d like to make my own home and life “SMARTER” from a tech standpoint.

Wireless Switches and Outlets

My husband suggested we buy a wireless switch to be compatible with our Amazon ECHO in our newly refinished basement. What I love about Sears website is you can sort which device you need your lights or appliances to be compatible with. This helped us decide on the Belkin WeMo Insight Switch which is priced at $59.99 since we knew we needed something to work with our Amazon Echo.

It’s now in our basement and we can chat with our Amazon Echo – who we call Alexa – to control a computer monitor that we have set up on the wall as a live picture frame that plays streaming videos. Amazing!

Honestly, we were able to set up this outlet in 5 minutes!!! Amazingly simple to make our home “smarter” and tons of the items at Sears can be set up in 5 minutes. Their store in San Bruno is actually set up like “rooms in a house” to showcase how different tech products can make your home smarter with various tech solutions that can be implemented in just minutes with the right product. So cool!

We have a computer monitor set up on the wall as a live picture frame that plays streaming videos. It’s plugged into our smart outlet. By simply saying ” Alexa, turn on the frame”, the Amazon Echo “talks” to the Wemo switch that turns power on the outlet that has a computer monitor plugged in. Like magic, it just turns on. Amazing!

Smart Lighting

It’s a GIANT problem in our house to get our kids to turn off the lights. We are constantly trying to save energy so we thought trying to install these smart switches and bulbs in our most “forgetful” zones would be the best way to integrate smart lighting into our home – and help us save energy. We haven’t set up the bulbs and switches yet, but Sears makes it so easy to figure out what to purchase. You can buy sets of smart bulbs and switches OR go with just a a super smart switch.

So when the kids forget to turn off lights in the basement we’ll be able to easily handle it from anywhere. Instead of yelling at the kids to turn off the lights, we can just yell at the light switch – and the lights will turn off!


We went with this Belkin WeMo Light switch for only $49.99 and plan to install it in our finished basement. LOVE!

Basically, per the Sears Connected Solutions website, I was floored to learn that this switch replaces a standard light switch in your home and can be controlled remotely with an Android smartphone or tablet, Apple iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. It works with your existing WiFi network and anywhere your smartphone or tablet has an Internet connection (3G or 4G LTE).

Woohoo!
