I was lucky enough to watch the Avengers Infinity War in Hollywood at the red carpet premiere and screen the movie for the very first time with the cast and crew. This movie is EPIC and definitely delivers!!!!! I loved reuniting with familiar old characters like IronMan and seeing my new favorites like SpiderMan and the Black Panther – along with Wakanda itself as a location- play major roles in this movie.

Avengers Infinity War Movie Review

It’s tough to share a review of this film without revealing major spoilers that will totally ruin your experience when you go to see it. What I can share is that I loved the movie. Expect action, emotions and even lots of comedy thanks to Spiderman and our Guardians of the Galaxy gang.

It’s non-stop action from start to finish and I was surprised that the entire 2 hrs and 36 minutes absolutely flew by given the length of this movie. Early on major major major stuff is happening and never stops happening so you’ll want to hold tight to your seat and definitely NOT take any bathroom breaks!

My reaction during the entire movie was like, “OMG did that really just happen??” I felt overwhelmed by it all as there is a TON to process. During the movie, there are several plot lines happening and the storyline goes back and forth between all of them. When it ends, I promise you’ll be mulling over it all for DAYS and have lots of unanswered questions.

nullThe cast for Avengers Infinity War was HUGE and seeing everyone on the big screen together was wonderful. It felt like worlds colliding – which they sure did – as characters like Spiderman and Iron Man meet Dr. Strange on screen for the very first time. This creates a lot of comedy and it also felt like a reunion of sorts for me as a fan too! As our Avengers friends ultimately team up with our friends from Guardians of the Galaxy ….  watching all this play out was fabulous fun!

The enormous cast all came on stage at the premiere together too. Seeing them all in real life along with acting together on the screen in one epic movie to save the universe and defeat Thanos was incredible!

Avengers Infinity War cast

When the movie ended I was just left feeling like WOW!!! Did all of that just happen? What’s going to happen next? Everyone leaving the theater with me — including the movie star cast —  all seemed to share the same sentiment! CRAZY town and when it ends you’ll definitely be wanting more.  Stay in the theater past those credits for a hint at where this story is ultimately going to end up going in Part 2 for the end game.

And until Part 2, we can all hit the theater in the coming year for Ant Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel.

Avengers Infinity War Cheat Sheet & 5 Tips Before You See It

1. The movie is LONG at 2 hours and 36 minutes. So go to the bathroom first because you will Not want to miss anything! Be Ready for an Epic 2.5 hours! Action is non stop!

2. Stay until the End of the Credits. A major hint as to what is next is revealed with a final scene that plays out 10 minutes after the  movie is finished and all the credits wrap.

3. Don’t expect total resolution at the end of this film. Remember, this is part 1 of 2 movies….. so there is lots more to come next Spring 2019 when Part 2 premieres. Until then, we’ve got Ant Man and the Wasp in Summer 2018 and Captain Marvel in March of 2019 to satisfy us Marvel fans with  more stories!

4. Refresh you memory on everything Marvel. Ideally, you’ll have seen lots of the major Marvel movies leading up to Avengers: Infinity War. Think IronMan, Captain America, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spiderman Homecoming and Black Panther since all of these characters will play big roles.    You can check out our guide below for a bit of a cheat sheet on the plot of Avengers: Infinity War

5. Bring your Tissues…… Enough said!

Is Avengers Infinity War Kid Friendly?

Overall, I think this movie is kid friendly for ages 8-9+ assuming your children are familiar with the Marvel characters, storylines, movies, and can handle the predictable explosions, battles scenes and violence that is typical of the Marvel super hero block buster action films. I’ll definitely be taking my 10 and 12 year old children to see it! And if my kids were 8-9 and familiar with Marvel characters, I’d feel comfortable taking them. It’s always a personal choice too as each parent knows what their child can handle!

On an emotional level, big stuff happens in this movie, and there will be a body count so be prepared for the emotions that will come with this epic movie and the fate each character may face as they give it their all to save the universe!

Profanity, violence, and sexual content are always the big 3 triggers to think about when deciding which movies work for your children. So here’s the scoop on all of the above:

Profanity: Avengers Infinity War definitely has a few curse words scattered here and there, but I hardly noticed them in comparison to Guardians of the Galaxy where I felt there were basically non-essential curse words every other sentence just to include curse words!  I was very pleased with the minimal profanity in Avengers: Infinity War. Yay!

Violence: Like the other Avengers films and the recent Black Panther, expect lots of shooting, explosions, and a body count. I felt like this violence definitely drives the PG-13 rating and would be the major consideration as far as if it’s an appropriate film for your child and why I recommend at least 8-9 plus for this movie.  If you child can handle the typical blockbuster violence from other Marvel movies, the violence in Infinity War is comparable. The opening scene and the final battle scenes are the most violent but throughout the entire movie, it’s definitely Thanos vs. all of our favorite super heroes in their fight to save the world. So be prepared for all kinds of fight scenes and near death violent experiences for every character.

Sexual Content: Barely anything happens sexually in this film so this makes it very appropriate for a younger audience.  There’s a few innuendos here and there plus a relatively innocent kiss with Gamora and Star-Lord but that is about it. Yay! Again another reason it’s an appropriate movie for a younger audience.

Who is Thanos?

“In time, you will know what it’s like to lose. To feel so desperately that you’re right, yet to fail all the same. Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives.” ―Thanos

Basically, Thanos is the most powerful villian of all time and is virtually indestructible. Yikes! Thanos was teased with brief appearances in Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy and in this movie he is the ultimate villain on a quest to secure all the infinity stones for his gauntlet glove so he can wield all the power in the universe to create mass destruction everywhere. As is so often the case with Marvel films, I surprisingly found myself FEELING for Thanos even though I was rooting hard for all of our favorite super hero characters.  Trust me he is the ULTIMATE bad guy too. Marvel is able to create this connection between the audience and all of its’ characters – despite their flaws and imperfections – and in my opinion that’s what makes these movies so powerful.
