Party with Hilarious Fun Thanks to Mo Willems The Pigeon Needs a Bath #ThePigeonParty

We heart the Pigeon! I honestly can’t get enough of this funny feathered character.  Last week we partied with kids from the neighborhood to celebrate Mo Willems brand new book, The Pigeon Needs a Bath which released this month. Check out our ideas from our Pigeon Party so you can incorporate into your own Pigeon fest with your children. Kenzie and Kyle go absolutely WILD for the Pigeon and his antics. We own many of Mo Willems earlier Pigeon books so were thrilled to share the hilarity of The Pigeon with our friends. Here’s the cover of Mo Willems The Pigeon Needs a Bath.

Look how dirty the little Pigeon is looking? He certainly needs a bath! And as you can imagine the Pigeon does NOT want to take a bath………. he has every excuse and then when he gives it a go you venture to guess that YES he loves to splash around in the tub!

Pigeon Needs a Bath

We decorated the house with cute signs, a fun “shower curtain” style step & repeat for photos, gave everyone books, and ate BLUE COOKIE ice cream sandwiches in honor of the beloved PIGEON.

Kenzie loves to read in various voices and expression and the Pigeon’s conversation and thought bubbles lend itself to HILARIOUS readings.

Here’s Kenzie entertaining the kids as she reads aloud from one of the Pigeon titles.  LOVE this photo so much!

Pigeon Party Ideas

If you want to throw a Pigeon Party, here are some cute photos from our event – you can see we had Tattoos for the kids, Pigeon coloring pages & activity sheets that we printed out for everyone – including instructions on HOW TO DRAW THE PIGEON and blue cookies transformed into ice cream sandwiches.

All the kids left with Pigeon books too!

The color blue works perfect for all the paper products, treats, and crafty fun. Since it’s near Easter, BLUE PEEPS prevailed as an adorable addition to our party snacks. I made my best effort at Pillsbury Blue cookies…. but I profess they look a tinge brown as even on the shortest bake time, this sensitive color browns easily.

Official info on the Pigeon’s new book

The Pigeon really needs a bath! Except, the Pigeon’s not so sure about that. Besides, he took a bath last month! Maybe. It’s going to take some serious convincing to try and get the Pigeon to take the plunge.

First in the series, Don’t Let Pigeon Drive the Bus  recently celebrated its 10th birthday this year! Over the last decade, The Pigeon books have sold millions of copies and enchanted young readers. The books have received numerous starred reviews, have appeared on many “best of” lists, and have even been inducted into the Indies Choice Picture Book Hall of Fame.

Note: We received these party supplies, Pigeon books, and more books to gift  our friends to host our PIGEON Party. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own. And we’ve been fans of the Pigeon and Mo Willems for years!

  1. Great printables, Colleen! My kids used to love those books. How terrific (and creative) to turn it into a party theme!

  2. Love this! My 6 year old LOVES to read Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive The Bus. It might be her very fave book to read and always has us all in hysterics. Great printables – thanks for sharing!

  3. We are the biggest Mo Willems fans there are. So much so that when I first met him and told him I was designing a pigeon nursery for my firstborn, I think he thought I was bonkers.

  4. Please let me know if you’re looking for a article author
for your blog. You have some really great posts and I think I
would be a good asset. If you ever want to take some of the load off, I’d absolutely love to write some material for your blog in exchange for a link back to
mine. Please send me an email if interested. Thank you!
