If you want to throw a Monsters University Birthday Party theme, here’s some fabulous ideas. It’s super easy thanks to all the incredible party favors, paper products, and decor we snatched up at my local Walmart. I found everything in the party aisle and most of the items were part of the Hallmark Party expressions line. I spent under $30 on all these goodies too!
Kids and adults alike adore Monsters University and the bold monster colors make for a magnificent birthday party theme.
Set was a breeze and in less than 20 minutes I had our downstairs transformed into a Monsters University zone.
I made these cupcakes and topped them off with blue sprinkles from Wilton – they turned out super cute.

Here’s some more fun ideas for creating your own Monsters University Birthday Party. We hosted this party for Mike’s 39th birthday per the kids request.
A few of my favorite things included the Monsters University Decor Kit which included MU banners and tons of attachments to hang from the ceiling, chandeliers, door knobs and more. If I had been hosting for one of kids, instead of just an adult party with the family, definitely adding in balloons is a must as the kids will love it and it would be a great way to highlight some of the fun colors – blues, whites, greens, and purples.
Our wall hangings and mobile above our kitchen chandelier turned out so cute.
We also had our very own scare contest with the kids growling away wearing these cute masks we bought. So fun!
And Walmart even sold this cute medal for the TOP SCARER. Super cute for a birthday party!

We bought a slew of cute party favors too. The stickers were only $1 and we bought a big kit that also had all kinds of goodies included like yo-yo’s, tops, mazes, a ruler, tattoos, and more.
Here’s my Mike feeding a bit of his birthday cupcake to Mike on the small cake plate. Good time!
Cool party horns too! I can’t believe we bought all this monstrous party stuff for under $30!
The entire family – from age 5 to age 70 had a blast celebrating Monsters University style!
As a participant in the Walmart Moms Program, I’ve received a sample product along with compensation for my time and efforts in creating this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
