Top 10 Must Read Thriller Books from 2021

I curated this list from the faves that I’ve recently read that are all new 2021 releases. A bunch of books on this list have more than one twist so I promise they will keep you guessing until literally the last chapter!

Some of these 2021 page turners also manage to include touching characters and great family dynamics which I really appreciate. Not every thriller or page turner can manage to have truly likeable characters, so when the books offer a combination of both, it’s a real win!

I’d classify everything on this list as part of the “Thriller” category of the Gone Girl or Girl on a Train style. I loved all of these titles below and I’m not sure which was my favorite as they are all so different but at the same time total thrillers and page turners!

The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz

This book is a MUST read and total page turner. And yes, the PLOT is all about the PLOT! When a Professor decides to use the plot of a deceased student’s unpublished plot idea to write his own best-selling novel, things begin to unravel quickly and get dangerous fast. The story is CRAZY town and you’ll be guessing at every new twist.

Every Vow You Break by Peter Swanson

Imagine a honeymoon gone very wrong. I absolutely loved this psychological thriller. No one believes the Bride when she reports strange events happening – even her own husband. Soon, our protagonist and Bride is struggling for survival on a very remote island. This book had me terrified and kept me up until 2 am to finish it!

The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

This book has a gripping mystery. When a woman’s new husband disappears and his last words were to protect his teenage daughter, she begins a dangerous journey to find out what secrets her husband was keeping.

Unthinkable by Brad Parks

This book is a different kind of thriller but I could NOT put it down. I loved it! A CIA agent is on sabbatical in a beautiful Northern California town. Before she knows it, she becomes suspicious of her son’s swanky private high school that’s striving for all it’s students to score high on the “Wonder Test.” Mother and son soon get wrapped up trying to solve a serial kidnapping case and it seems like this perfect town isn’t so perfect after all.

Imposter Syndrome by Kathy Wang

This book is genius. A spy thriller and a satire about Silicon Valley all at the same time. With a strong female lead Imposter Syndrome also preys on all our fears about social media. I loved it!

Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano

This book is hilarious, funny, and a page turner! I love a female heroine in my page turners too! When Finlay is mistaken for a contract killer while discussing the plot of her next thriller book at lunch with her agent, all kinds of chaos follows!

Falling

Now a national bestseller. Falling is a thriller taking place at 35,000 feet in the air!

Written by a flight attendant who was inspired by the idea about just what would a pilot do if his plane was hijacked, his family was kidnapped, and the only way he could save his family was to crash the plane????!!! You’ll have to read it to find out how this story turns out!
