Here’s all the details on our visit – even photos of the food & menu so you can see just what to expect at an Afternoon Tea at American Girl.

American Girl Afternoon Tea Review

It’s fabulous and I highly recommend either lunch, dinner or tea at American Girl. You’ll dine in the same cafe for either lunch, dinner, or tea – the big difference is you’ll get more a hearty meal at lunch & dinner vs a large tea try of treats & sandwiches for Afternoon Tea. We celebrated Kenzie’s 5th birthday at American Girl almost 2 years ago so we were thrilled to return. You can read our review of our American Girl Lunch from 2 years ago here.

You can invite your doll – and even a doll friend to sit with you at your table.

Here’s Kenzie sitting with her dolls at our Afternoon Tea. Yes she is delighted!

The tables are set beautifully.

The dolls are placed in “Treat Seats” which are also available for sale if you desire to take one home! The dolls even have their own cups & saucers which are also for sale too.

At 4:00 everyday, guests can experience the American Girl Cafe for only $20. Take a peek at the menu – since this is a Tea, all items are included.

The kids devoured just about everything but our favorite treats were the cinnamon buns that started off our meal, the Jello Orange slices, and Molly’s Victory Graden Chocolate Mousse Flowerpot.

As for drinks – we all adored the Strawberry Lemonade and we topped off our hearty afternoon snack with a Frozen Hot Chocolate that was divine. I highly recommend ordering it as it so delicious.

It’s a large size too so you can definitely share it!

I also love that when you sit down at the table, they give you a box of “conversation starters” that are basically very interesting questions – like “What country do you wish you lived in if you didn’t live where you live now?” or “Would you rather be invisible or be able to fly?”.

My daughter who is almost 7 years old finds this beyond delightful and exciting. I even bought the box of conversation starters in the store afterwards for $14 as I realized it would be such a great way for us to ignite chatter at the dinner table to encourage an exchange of ideas and imagination.

And yes, even little boys will have a blast at the Cafe when dining with their sister. Kyle is 4 1/2 and he loved his visit too!

After our Tea, we got Kenzie’s doll’s ears pierced for $14 which included a box of 6 pairs of earrings too. Kenzie found this thrilling – here she is hugging her doll before the quick procedure in the Doll Salon.

Disclosure: Thanks to American Girl Cafe for hosting us for the Afternoon Tea to facilitate our review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own.

  1. I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s equally
educative and amusing, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on
the head. The problem is an issue that not enough folks are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy I came across this during my search for
    something relating to this.

  2. Hello there, just became alert to your blog through
Google, and found that it is truly informative. I am gonna watch out for brussels.
I’ll be grateful if you continue this in future. Many people will be benefited from your writing.
    Cheers!

    • Are there any tea party events in Ohio that I could take my 7 year old too? She would love this but all of the locations are too far away from us in Columbus!
      Thanks,
