I used to hem and haw over this question, but I’ve learned it doesn’t really matter – so now stress far less over it . Truth be told, relatively speaking NOBODY is going to be paying any attention to you – as the spotlight is on whomever you might be interviewing.
Bloggers keep getting more and more cool opps to cover press events and/or volunteer with celebrities so here’s what I think works.
Since a girl likes to look good, here’s a few simple rules:
1. Most importantly, wear something you feel confident and comfortable in.
2. Remember you’ll likely want to get your photo taken too – so think of wearing an outfit that will photograph nicely – bright colors & solids are a great bet.
3. Dressed up jeans work great and are a very safe option. They are the perfect mix of classy and casual when paired with tall boots or heels. This way – whether the star is dressed up fancy or super casual you will blend in and feel in your comfort zone.
4. Up the business factor on your jeans outfit by opting for a blazer and/or statement necklace.
And bright colors always work great in photos – here’s a favorite shot of when I met Jennifer Garner. They specifically told us to be casual since our day with Jen included picking veggies on a farm to a cooking demo – in 100 degree weather too!
So I wore black shorts & a hot pink tank. The hot pink always works great on photos too.
Here’s what I’m wearing today for my interviews with Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, and the rest of the cast from the Big Miracle Movie today.
Dark denim jeans, tall boots, a ruffled top under a blazer (Top/Jacket – Ann Taylor Loft, Jeans are from Express)
You look OUTSTANDING.
Also – I agree that dressy jeans are a great choice for just about any occasion.
you look DARLING, as always! dressy jeans are my stand by piece as well!
I am NOT a fashionista, but I followed these rules perfectly for our Big Miracle interviews! I was wearing dark jeans, heels, white shirt, blazer and colorful necklace. Woo!!
