Les Misérables Movie Review: A Must-See This Holiday Season

As I began to preview the movie version of  Les Misérables last week, I was a bit hesitant. First of all, no one told me the entire movie was sung! Secondly, a movie that involves a box of tissues for others watching may be a bit too intense for me. However, how this classic musical that was transformed onto the big screen amazed me! Thrilling!

Definitely worth taking the entire family on Christmas Day when it comes out in theaters.

Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried star in this emotional tale of a man (Jackman) who promises a woman (Hathaway) to take of her daughter (Seyfried) once the woman dies. Both Jackman and Hathaway’s performances were incredible as they performed most singing live, unlike dubbing that occurs for most movie musicals.

If you’re not mentally prepared for 2 1/2 hours of singing, it might be a shock for you. However, don’t give up! This story is a classic for a reason. I quickly found myself engrossed in this story of heartache, love, and sacrifice. Not to mention the great music.

Keep your ears open for Anne’s performance of “I Dreamed a Dream.” It was by far the most memorable moment of the movie! Not a dry eye in the theater.

This movie is incredible and an absolute MUST SEE this holiday season.

Disclosure: I saw in this in advance of it’s official release to facilitate this review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
