So far this audio CD is 5 for 5 at being the #1 soothing tool that ultimately lulls my wide eyed and ultra alert baby to sleep in the evenings. I admit I was skeptical about this CD, but figured I’d give it a go when I saw a rave review from James Cameron, Academy Award Winner for the movie Titanic. We call Kyle “The Bat” at our house since his most alert period seems to be right when I want him to settle down for a long night! With my daughter, the only time I didn’t have to struggle to get her to sleep was in the evenings. With my new son, it is the opposite. Neither rocking nor a feeding put him to sleep at bedtime. I now incorporate this WombEffect music into his bedtime routine to assist him with falling asleep. What is SoundSleep? Basically, it is a breakthrough audio CD that is the first to use actual digital recordings of the intrauterine environment and combine it with a low-frequency ambient soundtrack. This is definitely Classy Mommy Approved thanks to the help of the newest addition to our product review team – 10 week old Baby Kyle! For more information, click here. Price: $20
SoundSleep for Babies
Boca Beth Bilingual Backpack
I love this product as it is a really simple way to introduce a second language to your toddlers and preschoolers. Kenzie adored the DVD, musical CD, coloring book, and puppet! My favorite item was the bilingual musical CD which introduces more than 100 words and 30 phrases in Spanish and English. I found this CD so cool as the songs were set to the beat of familiar “children’s songs” (ie If Your Happy and You Know it etc.) After just listening to the CD twice, I caught Kenzie quietly playing with her dollhouse singing If You Want to Say Please Say Por Favor, If you want to say Thank You say Gracias! Too cute! Use code bocarocks to receive 20% off any CD or DVD and 10% off any language learning set. For more information, click here. Price: $32
Juno
My words just will not do it justice. If you haven’t seen Juno – please go see it -like yesterday! This movie is phenomenal, quirky, and touching. I liked it so much that I just orderd the catchy soundtrack to give me a Juno fix. It’s been a top downloaded album off iTunes and I understand why – and so does my 2 year old! I’ll be rooting for Ellen Page to win best actress and if you see this movie, I bet you will be too. Totally Classy Mommy approved! For more information, click here. Price: $8
Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of U2
I just stumbled across this CD in a magazine gift guide and it is on my Christmas list for the new baby. This specific CD is a compilation of lullaby renditions of U2 songs. How cool is that? Kidz Bop 12
I’ve never listened to a Kidz Bop CD before, but this stuff is definitely cool for the toddlers and kids and totally bearable for us Parents as it is a compilation of cover songs of the latest pop songs we’re currently enjoying on the radio. Kidz Bop 12 includes Kenzie’s personal favorite and most requested tune from this past year – Gwen Stefani’s “Sweet Escape”. As soon as we get in the car she starts chiming “Hee Who” again and again as she requests this tune. Barefoot Books: Whole World
Earth Day is fast approaching! Whole World, published by Barefoot Books, is the perfect way to celebrate our planet! This gorgeous hardcover book has incredible illustrations and comes with a catchy singalong CD. Even my 17 month old was loving the familiar tune we all grew up with! The end of the book offers some super tips for “Green Living”. It’s never too early to start sharing these important values with our younger generations! A percentage of sales from this title benefits global conservation too! For more information, click here. Price: $15
Little Virtuoso
Classy Mommy’s Mackenzie adored her test run of the Little Virtuoso DVD. Little Virtuoso is basically a music class on video that is intended to show children that music is everywhere in the world all around them. Christy gets viewers involved to clap, dance and jump along with her which my 16 month old readily participated on her first viewing! This is far better than just watching images on TV! What really makes Little Virtuoso a special value is you also get a companion music CD with your “music class” style DVD so you can reinforce the music in the car or anytime you’d like. For more information, click here. Price: $17
Name Your Tune
Looking for a gift idea for a toddler? Try a Name Your Tune CD. It is marvelous! Mackenzie received this personalized “name” CD as a 1st Birthday gift. This CD is a huge hit in our car. Her name appears more than 80 times in 14 recognizable and fun children’s songs she already knows like Old MacDonald, Wheels on the Bus, and If your Happy and you Know it. My favorite song is Head and Shoulders which is song in a heavily accented voice. The owner of Name Your Tune confirmed to me that this voice is really no “accent” at all – it is just meant to entertain! There are over 1400 names to choose from and they also let you personalize the CD cover with a greeting to turn this musical gift into a keepsake. $20 each or 2 for $36.
