Strawberry Smoothie Recipe with Banana, Milk, and Honey

It’s Strawberry Season! We buy a TON of Strawberries each week and usually devour them quickly, however, my biggest peeve is that sometimes Strawberries spoil fast within a week if we don’t remember our fridge is stocked with berries.

Tips to Preserve your Strawberries Longer

Did you know that if you pre-wash strawberries and put them in the fridge before you plan to eat them, they will spoil faster? You should WAIT to wash strawberries until your ready to eat them and then they’ll last longer.

Buy in bulk at Walmart during the summer and spring months when Strawberries are at a huge discount since they are in season. Then,  you can freeze extra strawberries in a Ziploc freezer bag. We love using our Frozen berries when we make smoothies after letting them defrost for a bit since this makes our smoothies icy cold!

Tips to Freeze Strawberries:

Wash and hull Strawberries. Do not soak your strawberries in water or else you will lose key nutrients and vitamins. Simply wash and dry.

Completely dry your berries before putting in a Ziploc Freezer Bag. Use within 6 months.

I promise Mom and the kids will find delight in this delicious and super simple Strawberry Smoothie recipe. My children adore a smoothie as an afternoon snack and I also incorporate them into mealtime for easy dinners as well. Our recipe is a great way to insure kids get a fabulous daily intake of both fruit and milk for proper nutrition.

Strawberry Smoothie Recipe:  Ingredients & Directions

1 cup frozen or fresh strawberries

2 teaspoons honey

1 banana

1 cup lowfat or fat free white milk

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together and then use an immersion blender. This is the easiest way we’ve found to quickly make and clean up smoothies. It’s so much easier to quickly blend with an immersion style blender plus we love how quick the rinsing and clean up is with this style of blender compared to a large stand up blender.
